The 500 guests at the Juliette Low Leadership Society luncheon were privileged to hear Diane Rehm, Washington, D.C., as guest speaker. The Girl Scout luncheon was at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club and Annie Bohanon and Molly Shi Boren were chairmen.
Cathy Stackpole is executive director.
Rehm, star of The Diane Rehm Show, is heard online and on Sirius satellite radio. Her show is distributed nationally and internationally by NPR and NPR Worldwide. Locally, she can be heard weekdays on KROU and KGOU (105.7 and 106.3) at 9 a.m.
Young Girl Scouts gave the GS Promise which is “On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.”
Bohanon announced there were 200 members of the JLLS. After lunch, Rehm signed copies of her books “Finding My Voice” and “Toward Commitment.” Boxes of Girl Scout cookies were for sale and the luncheon dessert was created out of the cookies and topped with everyone’s favorite…a mint GS cookie.
Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club Events Director Carolyn Hall gave the recipe for the luncheon’s delicious dessert: “Our Chef Ahmad and new Pastry Chef, Anna, created the following
dessert: In the bottom of the martini glass they crumbled Girl Scout Café Cookies and the Girl Scout Lite Brownies. They topped it with Peppermint Ice Cream and with Praline Mousse. Then a Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie was placed vertical on top with Fresh Mint Leaves and Fresh Whole Raspberries.”
