Parties Extra: Feb. 18

Engagement Party

Cocktails and dinner, with a heartfelt flair, were planned for engaged couple Eileen Price and Josh Everett. Debby and Paul Dudman and Jose Freede entertained Feb. 10 at Gaillardia Golf and Country Club.

The pale pink heart invitation was decorated with hot pink flowers. The place card featured a red heart box of chocolates tied with a pink ribbon. On the tables were low bowls filled with pink and red roses and hydrangeas and votive candles surrounded with pale pink rose petals. Tablecloths and napkins were pink.

Going along with the heart theme, hosts ordered mashed potatoes in the shape of hearts. Dessert was a heart-shape lemon tart, a heart-shape cheesecake and a heart-shape fudge cake. Shrimp cocktail was served in a martini glass, and guests enjoyed pomegranate martinis during cocktail hour and champagne with dessert.

Guests were members of the wedding party, bridesmaids and groomsmen, and family members. Price and Everett plan a June wedding.

The Junior Cotillion Valentine’s Day dance was Feb. 6 in the University of Central Oklahoma’s Nigh Center. The party for high school students featured 43 students who are freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors.

They danced the waltz, fox-trot, cha-cha and swing dances to practice for the white-tie Spring Ball and Dinner at the Beacon Club on Feb. 16. That formal party featured a six-course dinner.

Directors Carey Sue and Richard Vega list their mission statement for students: To learn to treat others with honor, dignity and respect, for better relationships with family, friends and business associates, later in life, and to learn and practice ballroom dancing.
