Hostesses honor mother-to-be at shower

A luncheon and baby shower were given for Tira and Billy Hightower in the home of Libby Payne. Co-hostesses were Christy Everest, Shirley Everest, Susan Parker, Candy Ainsworth and Linda Klos.

The baby girl is due in November, so the honorees, who live in Evanston, Ill., could not get to the party. Billy Hightower is in a general medicine internship program there.

Gifts included four sets of baby dishes, prompting one guest to remark that they should have picked out a china pattern for the baby-to-be.

The hostesses’ gift to the honorees was opened by grandmother Millie Hightower. It was a pink-and-white quilt. Jan Parker knitted the baby a sweater, and great-grandmother Dannie Bea Hightower gave her a Herend china baby shoe.
