Ouch, you guys are pretty harsh. Do you know any psychics personally? And there is a difference between a psychic and a medium. A psychic can tell you information, predict the future, etc, a medium can do that if they wish, but mainly they communicate with spirits. I happen to be one of them. I also happen to run a paranormal investigation group and I find that our scientific tools and the spiritual tools of communication work in tandem. There have been several occasions where I have received information from a spirit and the owner of the place says "Nope, that never happened here" and upon historical research, the information can be validated. I think it's pretty close-minded to completely dismiss what someone else does without actually trying to see if there is validity there or not. I do agree that the candle thing is ridiculous, but if people buy it, that's their issue not hers. Just like when we complain there's too much violence on tv. There wouldn't be so much if we didn't watch it! They air what is popular, that's how it goes.

And I will admit there are psychics out there that are complete scam artists making it harder for those of us with actual ability whose goal is to help people. And I am of a different opinion than many psychics in that I believe everyone has psychic ability. However I will say just as with basketball, everyone can play, but not everyone can be Michael Jordan... there are those who seem to have a better skill level and natural ability when it comes to psychic ability.

I am used to skepticism and criticism in this field and I'm okay with it, differing opinions is what makes life interesting and gives room for growth and learning..... just thought I'd put my two cents in.

Funny stuff. I can't help but to wonder why New Age concepts of inner enlightenment haven't bit the ideological bullet yet.

Worse yet, I see the resurgence of psychic believers as the product of people's identity crises. Being psychic has become a niche identity for those who are otherwise underwhelming in life. It allows them to make ridiculous, sensational claims without the restrictions of evidence, reason or context, all in an effort to refocus discussion around themselves and their "special ability".

Being psychic = being narcissistic.

I am sick of psychics charging this or that for finding your inner whatever (or money, love, fill in the blank). AND then there are the other psychics that make fun of psychics who charge big bucks for the same thing they are doing and they think that just because they charge less they are somehow better. bah!

Oh and I love the ones that charge things like find your inner calm, your true love (again fill in the blank) and give advice when they themselves are a hot-mess.

The paranormal field is definitely being exploited and the selling of these so called psychic aroma candles is not helping one bit.

On a personal note, I do believe that everyone has a certain amount of a pyschic ability and it is not as exclusive and special as "professional" psychics say it is. Using it to scam people is, of course, wrong, in my opinion, but look how many people fall for it. It turns into basic supply and demand.

I cannot prove or disprove psychic abilities, so I just feel it is something personal. You either believe or don't and everyone has their reasons for either. To each their own. It's what makes us individuals. I just wish people wouldn't cash in on it or try to become "famous" with it.

Wouldn't it be wonderful IF it were all true? If the solutions to all our problems could be found by simply lighting one of the psychic's psychically scented with aromatherapy, we'd all run out and order..

You've give out some priceless information, that is seldom heeded.

"...people need to start using common sense"

Great blog. It's really very shameful that these self-proclaimed "psychics" are using their "gifts" to bilk people out of money in a time when the economy is so depressed. It's been all over the national news lately how "psychics" are enjoying a business boom. The people of this nation are desperate for answers and for help. People who take advantage this way are every bit the snake oil salesmen and rainmakers of the past. You'd think people would learn, but maybe it's their need to hope and dream that's keeps them going back.
