A Big Blue from the Red
This 90-pound blue catfish was caught and released on the Red River 10 miles below the Denison Dam by 16-year-old Jessie Roberts of Sterling, Kan.
Jessie Roberts, 16, from Sterling, Kan., landed a 90-pound blue catfish while fishing with guide Norman O’Neal Monday on the Red River.
Jessie was on spring break and fishing with her dad, Steve, when the big blue swallowed a shad head on 65-pound Power Pro line.
“It put up a huge battle, but Jessie handled the fish like a champ,” O’Neal said.
The fish was caught 10 miles below the Denison Dam on the Red River with the water falling after generation, O’Neal said.
The fish was released to fight another day.
