Traditional archery tournament at Crystal Lake

City Care Inc., a non-profit organization that works with inner city children, is holding its first annual traditional archery tournament Saturday and Sunday at Crystal Lake

A 3-D traditional archery tournament is scheduled Saturday and Sunday at Crystal Lake in southwest Oklahoma City.
Books open at 8 a.m. both days. There are 25 targets.
The tournament benefits City Care Inc, a non-profit organization which for years has helped inner city kids learn to read.
City Care also utilizes Crystal Lake as an outdoor classroom for inner city children.
The lake, located at 6625 SW 15, had been neglected in recent years, said Larry Bross of City Care.
“It was grieving me to see how nobody had been taking care of it,” he said.
City Care now leases the lake from the City of Oklahoma City for $1 per year. City Care stopped dumping at the lake, cleaned it up and plans are to eventually open it for camping.
A hiking trail around the lake also is being built as part of MAPS 3, and a portion of the proceeds from this weekend’s tournament will be used to help construct a permanent 3-D archery course on the west side of the lake.
