Matt Dodson of Yukon has participated in the archery hunts at Arcadia Lake in Edmond for several years and has harvested some does while afield, but this season produced a trophy buck.
Dodson arrowed this 17-point, 166-pound buck on Oct. 4, the last evening of his four-day hunt.
There are 25 hunting zones in the 5,300-acre wildlife management area around Arcadia Lake.
Arcadia Lake officials hold a drawing for hunt dates before the archery season and any remaining dates are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
There are still hunting dates left to be filled in the bow season at Arcadia Lake which runs through Dec. 31.
Last year, hunters killed 36 deer at Arcadia Lake.

Yee-Haw, ambushing season is ‘ponus. That boy got him a niceun. He ain’t smilin, wonder ifin he got teeth. Them woods be full of red-necks, potted meat and blue ribbon beer for the next two months. Theys puttin grub on the table for all them little red-necks theys raisin. I seen bunchs of the fellers from okc come down to McCurtain County within there fancy for wheel 60,000$ pickups, new rifles, ambushing gear, settin round a campfire gettin soused and tellin lies. Guess thats normal when you’re a wantabe. Hope there kids got teeth when theys grow up. See ya, wouldnt wants be ya.
