Hal's dad who was an ex-Air Force fighter pilot and IRS agent had a construction company(Merritt-Mcknight) that I worked for in the 50's. Now deceased Hal senior was a very impressive and typically unique ex-fighter pilot. Currently I am living in Montgomery Alabama but thought so much of his dad from then that I came back to Oklahoma City to meet Hal jr. at the Bicycle Shop a few years ago. Found him to be just as impressive as HaL senior was in his own way. He wanted to go out to dinner with us that evening but unfortunately I had a plane to catch the next morning.

I happened to catch some of Hal's comments on ABC news a couple nights ago. Martha and I thought that this must be the same Hal McKnight that we knew 30 some years ago in OKC when he was selling bicycles at Wheeler Dealer on NW 50th. We moved to Oregon in 1977. We always enjoyed Hal's company and zest for life, particularly on a camping trip in southeastern Oklahoma one spring. Oregon is a wonderful place to fish, hunt, and enjoy the outdoors. Now that I am retired, I plan on doing more of that a lot more. Cheers!

It is my suggestion that this timely blog by my longtime friend, Hal McKnight, be published as an article in "The Oklahoman". With so many landowners currently suffering horrific low water pond fish kill conditions, it is vital they receive Hal's remedial information ASAP. Landowners without internet access would have a shot at reading the article in hard copy. Thank you.
