Glad you were successful in saving the fish. I haven't moved any this year but don't really have any "Safe" ponds to move them to. I have "siphoned" water from one pond to another to help one of the lowest ponds. Birds, 'coons and coyotes will completely empty the ponds in E. Oklahoma if they get too low. My catfish are in peril daily from great blue herons that wait at the edge and can impale a two pounder with no problem when they feed at the water's edge which was ten feet from shore a couple of months ago. Back in '06 I waited until it was too late to try to save any of the fish from some of the ponds and when I finally got time to wade into them there was not even a minnow left.
Sure would be nice to get one of the tropical rainmakers up here and put the water back, if we miss those, prospects look sort of dim for winter runoff. Don't know about the rest of the state, but Muskogee County has had water quality problems in the ponds all summer due to the heat and water temps and of course livestock access. This has been a year for almost everything including hay and crops that I hope I never see again. Pecan and acorn crops are mostly lost at this point as well. Guess that's why Oklahoman's are so tough, lots of practice.
