I hunted in Mangum, Ada, Konawa, Sayer, Kaw Lake, Goodson,Lexington, Love Valley, Canton, and other places in okla. None of the places I hunted had any change of agriculture, no plowing, chemical use, no burning, no cattle, yet the quail just disappeared. So I am not buying habitat change being the problem. The drought was hard on everything, but the lack of quail has been on going. I know that the turkey population is not suppose to interfere with quail, but while turkey hunting by Ada I could use a quail call to attract turkeys. 'Didn't work in Mangum. I agree with Phil in the above post, give it a try anyway.

Quail in Oklahoma. Habitat in Western Okla, south to north, has enough habitat to hold a sufficient number of quail. Problem is predators in abundance and pressure from hunting. A solution is to reduce the number predators, go back to Tuesdays, Thursdays Saturdays, and holiday hunting. Give the birds a chance. Give this a try. At least we can say we tried. I have been hunting in Oklahoma for 60 years. Phil Anderson
