Sooner Run moved to Fort Gibson Lake

The pros now will be fishing Fort Gibson Lake, not the Arkansas River.

Unsafe boating conditions on the Arkansas River has resulted in the Sooner Run being relocated to Fort Gibson Lake.
The Bassmasters Elite Series had been scheduled Thursday through Sunday on 100 miles of the Arkansas River, but the pros fishing practice rounds Monday and Tuesday on the river reported treacherous water with a lot of debris, said Doug Grassian, spokesman for BASS.
“A lot of guys expressed that they didn’t feel comfortable fishing,” he said. “We talked to the Coast Guard and deemed it unsafe.”
Due to logistical reasons, the first two-days of launches and weigh-ins are now going to be held at Sequoyah Bay in Wagoner. The weigh-ins Saturday and Sunday will be at Three Forks Harbor in Fort Gibson.
All other festivities will remain at Three Forks Harbor.
