Here are some upcoming outdoor events in Oklahoma.
If you would like to spend an enjoyable evening around a campfire, the Chickasaw National Recreation Area is sponsoring a “Campfire Stories” event on Saturday, June 19.
The event is being held at the Bromide area in the park’s Platt Historic District. Activities include music, hayrides and story telling.
The hayrides and music start at 7 p.m. Storytelling begins at 8:30 p.m. around a campfire.
Storytellers include local members of the community, the Territory Tellers, the Chickasaw Nation and park staff.
The event is free but guests are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Southeast Oklahoma Chapters is holding its “Big Game Banquet” on Saturday, June 19, at the Southeast Expo Center in McAlester.

Taxidermy trade show
The Oklahoma Taxidermist Association will be holding its annual competition and trade show June 24-26 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 2495 NW Expressway in Oklahoma City.
State taxidermists will be displaying their best work and competing for championships in categories of fish, reptiles, game heads, whitetails, life-size mammals, birds, waterfowl and reproductions.
The public can view the mounts on Saturday (June 26) from 8 a.m. until noon. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children.
Hunter Education Challenge
The Oklahoma City Gun Club is the site Saturday (June 19) for a Youth Hunter Education Challenge.
