Big Striper from the Red River

A 31-pound striper caught Friday on the Red River below Denison Dam

Norman O’Neal, who guides for stripers and blue cats below Denison Dam, reports the striper fishing has been really good lately with a lot of numbers being put up and some big fish being caught as well.
“We even had several trips last week where we caught a lot of fish from 10 to over 20 pounds,” O’Neal said. “Today’s (Friday) big fish was caught by Don Boydston from Shawnee.”
Boydston’s striper weighed 31 pounds, giving him his second fish more than 30 pounds this year.
This spring, Boydston caught a striper weighing 37 pounds, 12 ounces while fishing with O’Neal.
The fish was photographed and released back into the water to fight another day.
