Saw one whooper milling about with sand hill cranes coming into mudflat (continuous flocks of 30-60, several hundred birds, arriving from the north). a bit further west (where eagle roost trail turns back to the north) heard at least one, maybe two, whoopers calling from the south, behind a screen of reeds.
