I live in Alabama and on April 2nd,caught a 42.9 lb flathead on a trotline.I was fishing at Lake Mitchell below Jordan Dam.I had my fished weighed at a local bar on the river and took pictures in front of a large crowd.I didn't even check to see if it was a state record fish and to the amazement and dismay of some of my friends, especially after being offered 100 dollars for the fish, released it back into the river.I personally see no reason whatsoever to have kept an old fish that big.Yes,I enjoyed catching the fish but to have weighed and taken pics of it,it made me feel better watching it swim away.Maybe in another 10 years somebody else will have the same luck and maybe a State Record!!!!!
