Good article Jason.. I think that Jones is going to be a first round pick after all.. There is too much of a disconnect between the media and Team GM's.. I felt like that from what I heard Jones has a great pro-day 68-71 according to George Whitfield with those throws being mostly intermediate and deep and on the run and under presure.. I was pissed when Daniel Jeremiah declared Jones stock down due to a poor proday.. I messaged Whitfield and he said 4 Gm's are in touch with him and they really like him and there would be some surprises on draft day.. Jones is a competitor..Every competitor makes the mistakes of trying to do too much and ignoring the basics like check downs. Gruden's comments were taken out of context by some that Jones being Board meant he didnt try or care.. I am a fan from Artesia NM and watched him in High School... He has always been a winner.. The Knocks on him are over blown.. He was throws 555 times 200 times a year more than Manuel more chances to mess up and be pressured..He may not have won it all but wasnt going to with a 50th ranked D and that is why his production drop. less attempts cause the d was on the field more..

Totally agee with Gruden's assessment of the offense. Though I have grumbled about LJ and his happy feet, Gruden hit the nail on the head....it wasn't LJ's fault as much as an offense that had too many limitations. It was LJ or nothing. The defense the past two years was wretched. Who knows what OU's record would have been with a different QB. The only upside to that scenario would have been getting more experience for the next QB. The cost, however, may have been 2 losing seasons that looked much like UT a couple of years ago. 10-3 suddenly looks pretty good....which by OU standards is pretty bad. Sooner fans don't like to lose, but it is how they lose that drives them crazy more than losing. Whatever happened...something went south when Bradford and crew graduated...maybe entitlement by players and possibly coaches who were at a program that had played for the NC 4 times in 8 years. Unfortunately for LJ, when Broyles went down he was THE face of OU football. Gruden is right....too many times he tried to do too much....and many times he pulled OU's butt from the ringer. Good luck, LJ...I hope a good team drafts you....if that happens, you will be a pleasant surprise to many critics. The coaches at OU on offense relied on your talents and skills more than their coaching abilities...if anyone let the fans down, the coaches did.

Happy feet and bad plays under stress are all part of emotional immaturity. That will change. Landry has the tools to be a solid NFL QB. Second or third round doesn't make much difference. Landry's value shows up after 2-3 years in the league. A quality individual; a quality wife; a true value to OU.

I am a home town fan of Jones from Artesia, I played for the same coach as he did. I have been following him through his OU career and the draft process and have been frustrated by the sports media trashing him in every way shape or form. Its like he is being black balled or punished.. I read the whole article Gruden Wrote some one posted it.. I really liked what Jon Gruden Said about Jones it was fair. He had a lot of good things to say like "the more you study his body of work the more impressed you are.. Landry Jones performed at a really high level for a really long time. Jon Gruden said he was a lot more impressed with Jones athletic ability to extend plays than he thought he would be. He just said landry needed to check down more and do less. and sometimes Giving up on a play is the best play.. I think that the defense at OU got worse Landry's Junior and Senior year and spent more time on the field and Landry's attempts went down both of those years..That can account for the lower production.. Mel Kiper is a total idiot when he said jones Leveled off early and regressed.. Only the top 10 QB's in the NFL pass for over 4000 yards and 30 plus TD's so to go from 4700 yards to 4400 is hardly regressing and how much Higher can you go.. I think Gruden was a fan of Jones and to Call him a CEO Quarterback and Make a point to talk to him about Peyton Manning and Eli, and Drew Brees says a lot I think he sees that kind of potential.. To take what landry accomplished his ability and nit pic and blow his mistakes out of proportion calling him a 4th round back up is ridiculous.. CBS sports is posting grudens comments out of context so it sounds like Jones heart is not in it and he did try hard enough.. Jones will be the bigest surprise on draft day Whitfield says he is in contact with four GM's who love Jones.. I think Jones will go in the first but worst cast wont get past San Diego in the Second.. How do some of these guys justify ranking a QB who never completed 60% of his passes and had a loosing record with two top ranked Wr's ahead of Jones is beyond me.. I think a lot of the negativity around Jones started with OU fans perfectionistic attitude.. its National Championship or Bust and so Landry sucks because he didn't achieve that.. You don't win Championships with 50th ranked defenses.. but the media picked up on it.. The NFL isnt about perfection its about 4000 yard seasons 30 plus td's and making the playoffs.. Landry will do that for a team.. Thats my two cents..

Bell has hardly thrown the Ball in an actual game and has little experiene in reading the defense. The Belldozer is simply not the kind of experience that gives Bell any real advantage.

As for Bell's ability...he now weighs 263 pounds? He is HUGE...it is hard to see him as being nimble on his feet. If Sooners want a running QB, Trevor has the wheels. Bell can not scramble but he is like the "Fridge" and can run North or South. We shall see how the QB;s perform in the scrimmage.
