Matches will begin at 1 p.m.

This will be the fourth time the two teams have met. Alabama (3-4) currently holds a 3-0 series record over OU (4-2).

“We always look forward to playing Bama,” OU head coach Mark Johnson said. “They always have a very strong program and every meeting has been a great match.”

The two teams last met Feb. 24, 2007, with Alabama taking a 4-3 decision at the University of Alabama Varsity Courts.

Oklahoma comes into Saturday’s match after falling 5-2, on the road, to 34th ranked Wichita State.

Alabama recorded a 6-1 victory over Georgia State in its last match Wednesday, Feb. 21 at home.

“Saturday should be a great matchup,” said Johnson. “I feel like we have had a great week of practice and have learned from our loss last Friday.”

The Sooners are led by freshman Ana-Maria Constantinescu at the No. 1 singles position. The Romania native has earned a 5-0 record in dual matches this season. In doubles action, she has teamed up with senior Chelsea Orr to go undefeated at No. 1 doubles.

“Both Ana and Chelsea have been playing very well for us,” said Johnson. “They have both really stepped up in their own ways.”

Fans in attendance at Saturday’s match will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a racquet as well as an OU T-shirt and hat. The drawings will take place between singles and doubles play.

MEN’S BASKETBALL (15-6, 3-3)

Last Week: Oklahoma split its two games last week, beating Bedlam rival Oklahoma State 64-61 on Monday in Norman before falling at No. 23 Texas A&M 60-52 on Saturday. Junior forward Taylor Griffin led the Sooners against OSU by scoring a career-high 20 points and pulling down a game-high six rebounds, while Blake Griffin added 15 points, four boards and three assists. Senior guard David Godbold keyed OU offensively at Texas A&M as he netted a career-high 22 points with the help of 6-for-10 3-point shooting. The Sooners led 51-50 in College Station but were outscored 10-1 over the final three minutes.

This Week: OU plays host to No. 10 Texas (17-4, 4-2) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CST (televised by ESPN2) before traveling to Boulder, Colo., for a contest against Colorado (9-12, 1-6) on Saturday at 3 p.m. CST.

Notes: Over his last two games against Texas A&M, David Godbold has scored 42 points and is 11-for-17 (.647) from 3-point range … Blake Griffin saw his 11-game streak of scoring in double figures snapped with his six-point performance on Saturday (the streak did not include the Jan. 14 game when he played five minutes at Kansas) … Griffin is still averaging a double-double in his four full Big 12 games (16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest) … OU’s loss at Texas A&M was its first this season when leading at halftime (it was 11-0 prior to Saturday) … Texas will mark OU’s sixth ranked opponent in the last 11 games and third in the last four.

There the Sooners will meet Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Ohio State and Marquette. It will be the first time in program history that OU has met Marquette and Ohio State and only the second time the Sooners have seen Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Sooners last faced the Panthers in 1998 sweeping a 6-0 victory.

“We are really excited to get the season underway,” head coach Mark Johnson said. “This will be a great way for us to see some new teams and some fresh competition.”

Oklahoma will begin the weekend in a head-to-head dual with Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Friday at 10 a.m. The Sooners will take on Ohio State Saturday at Marquette University beginning at 10 a.m., before finishing the weekend on Sunday in a head-to-head dual with Marquette at 10 a.m.

“We are going to get a lot of match time, in only a few days,” said Johnson. “It will be a great way to learn our strengths and what we still need to work on.”

MEN’S BASKETBALL (13-5, 1-2)
Last Week: The Sooners split their two games, losing 85-55 at No. 3 Kansas on Monday before regrouping to beat Texas Tech 63-61 at home on Saturday. Longar Longar scored a team-high 21 points against Kansas and shared team-high honors with Taylor Griffin by netting 16 points versus Texas Tech. Against the Red Raiders, Longar added nine rebounds and three blocks while Griffin grabbed 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the year.

This Week: Oklahoma is off until its Saturday game at Baylor (3 p.m. CST on ESPN Plus). The Bears enter the week with a 15-2 overall record and a 3-0 Big 12 mark (tied for first place).

Notes: Longar’s 21 points at Kansas marked his second highest total of the year … Including Saturday’s performance against Texas Tech, Longar has scored in double figures in nine of the last 10 contests and has scored at least 16 points in eight of those games … Starting in place of his injured younger brother Blake (out multiple weeks with a knee sprain), Taylor Griffin’s 16 points and 12 rebounds against Texas Tech were both season highs … Tony Crocker was 3-for-4 from 3-point range on Saturday and has now made at least three treys in a contest seven times this year (he is shooting .493 on the season) … After getting outrebounded in three of its previous four games, OU outboarded Texas Tech by a 40-27 count (13-2 on offensive rebounds).

Senior Max Dean (No. 20) and sophomore Brian Shelton (No. 13) missed the weekend’s competition.
