Gymnastics: Horton on TV event
Oklahoma senior Jonathan Horton will be featured Saturday in the Tylenol Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular presented by Chesapeake Energy. The made-for-TV event will air at 1:30 p.m. on NBC. Viewers should check their local listings to confirm times in their area.
Gymnastics: OU men advance in Vegas
Four members of the Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team advanced to Saturday’s finals competition at the 2008 Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas, Nev.
Five Sooners (Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons, Jonathan Horton, Ian Jackson, Steven Legendre and Jacob Messina) competed in Thursday’s qualification rounds at the Las Vegas Sports Center. Jackson, a sophomore, finished as the first alternate, narrowly missing a berth in the finals.

MEN’S BASKETBALL (15-6, 3-3)
Last Week: Oklahoma split its two games last week, beating Bedlam rival Oklahoma State 64-61 on Monday in Norman before falling at No. 23 Texas A&M 60-52 on Saturday. Junior forward Taylor Griffin led the Sooners against OSU by scoring a career-high 20 points and pulling down a game-high six rebounds, while Blake Griffin added 15 points, four boards and three assists. Senior guard David Godbold keyed OU offensively at Texas A&M as he netted a career-high 22 points with the help of 6-for-10 3-point shooting. The Sooners led 51-50 in College Station but were outscored 10-1 over the final three minutes.
Gymnastics: OU women edge Nebraska
The No. 6 OU women’s gymnastics squad bested Big 12 rival and 12th-ranked Nebraska 195.275-194.950 on Friday night in Oklahoma’s home opener. Leading the charge was Ashley Jackson who bested co-Big 12 Gymnast of the Year Emily Parsons 39.275-39.250 for the all-around title in front of 1,238 fans at the Lloyd Noble Center.
Gymnastics: OU men knock off Nebraska
Sophomore Ian Jackson won his first all-around title of the season as the Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team defeated No. 12 Nebraska 355.500-337.750 Friday night at the Lloyd Noble Center. The sixth-ranked Sooners moved to 3-0 on the season against their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rivals. OU also defeated the Huskers at the Rocky Mountain Open, Jan. 12 in Colorado Springs, Colo., and in a tri-meet with the Air Force Academy in Lincoln, Neb., on Jan. 20.

The University of Oklahoma women’s gymnastics squad hosts Nebraska in the team’s 2008 home opener at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Lloyd Noble Center in a dual meet with both school’s men’s squads.
Gymnastics: OU meets Nebraska tonight
For the third time this season, the Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team will face off against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rival Nebraska. The sixth-ranked Sooners host the 12th-ranked Huskers Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center. The meet will be a double dual event that also features the No. 6 OU women’s team competing against the No. 12 Nebraska women.

For the second time in three weeks, Oklahoma’s Steven Legendre has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Gymnastics: OU gymnast shares Big 12 best honor
Following her all-around title that propelled OU to its highest score of the 2008 season, gymnast Kiara Redmond-Sturms was named co-Big 12 Gymnast of the Week by the league Tuesday, sharing the honor with Nebraska’s Emily Parsons.
Gymnastics: OU women ranked 6th
The OU women’s gymnastics squad jumped to sixth in the latest GymInfo rankings, released Monday. The Sooners cruised past host West Virginia, George Washington and William & Mary in Morgantown, W. Va., on Sunday after posting a season-high team score of 196.550.
