I agree. The problem that you see when people evaluate Landry is that they confuse being a great college quarterback with being a great pro quarterback. Landry was not the former, and he may not be the latter – but he could be. The two require different skill sets. Landry will never rally a team to a championship, but Eli Manning hasn’t either. When he’s surrounded by professional men, not college kids, he might step up. It’s not something he could do with the weight of the team on his shoulders, but it’s something he may be able to do when he just needs to rally himself.

From today’s KC Star:

“The Chiefs have had interviews with seven draft-eligible quarterbacks at the NFL Scouting Combine and plan to speak with an eighth Saturday night. Chiefs general manager John Dorsey and coach Andy Reid were among club officials who met with quarterbacks Geno Smith of West Virginia (above), Matt Barkley of USC, Tyler Wilson of Arkansas, Mike Glennon of North Carolina State, Ryan Nassib of Syracuse, Zac Dysert of Miami (Ohio) and Tyler Bray of Tennessee. The Chiefs were scheduled to meet with Florida State’s E. J. Manuel later Saturday.”

No mention of Landry.

If I was getting paid what George got to teach QB skills, the first thing I’d say was what he said. All my students would be 1st rounders. The DOK propaganda machine is getting cranked up.

The good thing about Landry’s NFL career is it will depend on how he actually does. None of it will depend on what people who know nothing about actual individual talent say on message boards like this. If he is a 4 round pick I just hope he is a 4th round pick of the Houston Texans. I would love to see them groom him as Schaub’s replacement in a few years.

Three games this year say otherwise: KSU, Notre Dame, and the zero point second half against ATM. Padding the stats against WVU/OSU(71 pass attempts) = Timmy Chang part two. Drafted yes, 1st round no way.
