We used to adjust with the best of them in the 2nd half. It seems that we didn’t do as well in the really big games we lost, ND, & aTm. I would like to see Bob’s explanation on that scenario.

So Don, “you said we should fire the whole lot of the coaches on Defense”. Really!? Who is better, it was porous with Brent Venebles as well. Yes, Defense sucked, but the coaches have the players they have available. We need some better D-Lineman and LB’s. But then, who stopped Johnny Football, or Baylor, WVA, OSU, TCU, or KST? These are high powered offenses today in the B12 and they did/will put up the numbers against anyone. Give it a rest will you, it will be better next year, maybe – I hope and pray.

Hiring fired failed coaches usually does not work out well. The entire defensive staff needs to be replaced. The Defense was no better this year than last. How can it be better when it gives up the most yards ever given up in OU history!

Millard may have under achieved but I don’t think so. He was team player and a great blocker and we will never forget the run he made against Texas. Awesome!

Suggestions for future Sooner improvement: First, find someone who can coach and recruit linebackers. (Losing Venables really hurt in that regard.) Next, recruit QB’s who can both run and throw. Another suggestion: develop a coaching staff that has the ability to make in-game adjustments. Finally, get Trey Millard, Roy Finch and the Tight Ends more involved in the offense.

Not sure one could say the team underachieved…but, should have beaten KSU–two fumbles and only one of them was LJ. I would say the worst was the lack of being able to re-adjust on defense when the opponents offense made successful changes: eg WV & T A&M; and the lack of imagination in play calling–seemed to remember running game & Millard in first qtr. then “forgot”..little use of multiple backs eg. diamond formation..can not help but feel that a backfield with Millard,Damian Willims/Clay and Roy Finch could not move the ball to pick up a 3rd and two or three..should not have had to put in “bell dozer” outside of red zone…also could have had power formations w/o Bell but with Millard and “ski” as well…lack of “imagination”..Boomer Sooner

I would disagree with Landry as underachieving, without his comebacks the season could have been much worse. It took a while to gel with the receivers, but when he did, he was pretty darn good.

I would have to add the coaching staff as a whole as an underachieving group. They were predictable on both sides of the ball and really didn’t seem to have a clue in important situations. The real story was shown in the Cotton Bowl when TV cameras caught a visably upset Bob Stoops yelling at his brother as Johnny Manziel continued to run wild.
