What motive would Bob and Mike Stoops have for lying about this kid? It’s more likely that this kid has great talent but coasted at OU. Are the Stoops supposed to tell NFL scouts he’s a hard worker, if he isn’t?

If Jefferson worked hard in the weight room, it seems extremely unlikely that OU coaches would lie about his work ethic. Most likely this is much ado over nothing. I wonder why Jefferson believes this rumor.

BTW, as a Texas fan, if you Sooners are tired of Stoops, we’ll be glad to take him. The guy is a tremendous coach.

Time for Mike Stoops to hit the road. First the flap over Johnny Football, then the performance of his defense in the bowl game, and now this – terrible. Not to mention his unwillingness to stop playing man to man all year, despite the fact that WVU puts a WR in at RB and gains 300+ yards on us…everyone set records against our defense in the last half of the year. Bye bye hot head.

OU is going through a rough patch….I think the current problems started 3 years ago when Stoops himself talked to the media about how great that freshman class was…and how high he was on them….from the beginning the players have the advantage when a coach tells the world how much he ‘likes’ his team….he should have instead kept those kinds of remarks to himself and made players earn his respect. I scratched my head when he did this in disbelief. He had never done that before. And hasn’t done it since. So, maybe in another year, when that class has finally exited OU he can lay the foundation he put in in 1999 and 2000 which reaped huge payoffs until the Bomar debacle. Recruit big uglies….get the best…look at the offensive players from the past that were lightly recruited…. Q Griffin…Mark Clayton….Iglesias, Chris Brown, Ryan Broyles, JD Runnels, even White and Bradford…. They weren’t 4 and 5 star recruits..some weren’t even 3 star. Get back to looking at the whole picture when recruiting…not just stars…that is lazy recruiting. I knew it would be a difficult recruiting year for OU this year since there was no off date late in the season and we played our toughest opponents in Nov. Coaches were too concentrated on just finding a way to win games.

VY was the doing and undoing of Mack Brown….VY didn’t do much until his junior and senior years….NFL time was bearing down by then…but Mack had to get hip….to make VY happy…he changed his practice ritual and loosened up,like Peetie Carroll. McCoy was a strong enough leader that he pulled UT through some bumps…UT lost several players year after year…suspensions, transfers, those who quit, or disciplined…all while McCoy was there! Mack cleaned house….with players and coaches. I will take a 10 win season anytime over that…kids and that IS what they are have built in crap detectors….they size a person up very quickly. Whether its Mack’s hip hop practice sessions or Stoops saying how much he likes a particular class. When the leaders left in 2009, their replacements were soft…and they knew they could be because their coach told the world how much he liked them. It makes no difference where the players are from…Texas players did Mack in. Success and failure ALWAYS lay at the door of the leader…. They are the deciders…they are the teachers….they are the ones who inspire….players should have to earn respect…the number of stars should go out the window once a player gets on campus. The problem with TJ is he could have been MORE….with one more year, yes….but he should have been more the past 3 years….as should thus whole team of non-award winners…..with the exception of All American status.

I think pro scouts usually keep things quiet, they don’t want other scouts knowing everything they know. If it really did happen and the coaches were just being honest, then how about some discretion from the scouts. Like the Te’o thing, this just doesn’t add up.

the Oklahoman is now stooping to publishing rumors and tabloid stories? Publishing silly tweets from 20-year olds, really?? The paper should be ashamed of itself.

About Stills, I agree with Jay above. Glad to see him leave, he stirs up more trouble than he was worth. His comments on twitter are childish and disrespectful.
