It’s going to take time for Mike Stoops to get the D back to where he had it before he left. Brent left the D-Line & LB cupboard pretty bare. Left him numerious overrated players with NO heart, poor work ethics and questionable characters. As a result, recruiting the top end defensive players is suffering. Once Mike begins to rebuild with his type of players our D will start performing. From there, the top end players will start coming back. Our offense is ok. We lost several very good O-Lineman to injury before the yr started, but we have quality guys at that position. However, I’d sure love to see Fat Mangino return to bring a toughness and nastiness back to our O. Love Josh, but a bit pass happy, touch too finesse and not enough smash mouth to play with the big boys.

This is being blown way out of proportion. Roy Finch was his scheduled host but was on his way back from Florida. Many players weren’t back from the holidays. He was there alone less than 2 minutes before Roy was there. He’s been laughing about it to James Hale (ou insider) and said he had a great time, loved OU, very interested and this wasn’t a big deal at all. Things happen.

Aren’t we all interested in one thing; the state of the OU football program and its’ future. Can’t we all get along without the character attacks and trash talk. Some of us think Stoops is the best thing since sliced bread. Others believe Stoops is good, but not great. I agree with the latter. Only time will tell which camp is correct. Three or four years from now we will find out who’s right and who’s wring. Believe me I hope I’m wrong. I sincerely hope Stoops and OU win another National Championship in the near future. At that time I will apologize to anyone I may have offended. Thank you and have a nice day. Boomer Sooner!!!!

This shows there is a problem within the program. You don’t keep in contact with your top linebacker recruit for months so he switches to another school. You cancel Junior Day so you can concentrate on the seniors you are bringing to campus and then you don’t make sure they are taken care of while they are on campus? Recruiting isn’t the problem, it is a symptom. The problem is a lack of focus by the coaches and administrators. Good things don’t just happen, you have to make them happen. Can you see a 4 star recruit going to Alabama and not being taken care of while he is there? It isn’t just losing this player, it is also the effect he will have on other potential recruits he has contact with. If you aren’t interested in the player then don’t recruit him to start with. If you are interested in him then be professional and do your job when you have a chance to interact with him.

I have a lot of respect for Steve Davis (whom I met and attended school with). I also have a lot a lot of respect for Spencer Tillman. Both believe improvements need to be made in the current OU football program. Davis and Tillman are both far more knowledgeable about OU and college football than any of us making comments on this website.

Just a note on the side. I personally know the preacher (Joe Wiley). He was blocked in the back during Johnny Rogers touchdown in the Game of the Century. How do I know? He said so and he don’t lie. It was also evident on the replays. OU deserved another National Championship during my time at OU. Hey, Mr. Lvviv; did OU win 2 National Championships and deserved a 3rd during your time at OU?????????? Or did you even attend college. At leest you makes compllete sentases when you types. He he.
