Hard to say this, but those folks above who are criticizing the coaching staff for recruiting shortcomings are correct. Except for one position (QB) OU is not getting the kind of elite talent that we should be, given the stature of the program. Stoops is getting out-coached in recruiting (or “out-recruited” if you prefer, but to me recruiting is part of coaching) and he needs to make a change. Will he?

Stoops got bailed out at WR by Brown ans Saunders….Saunders MAY be back but Brown graduates…from Penn State no less. Stoops will have to put out some “feelers” to get some good DLineman. Other than Colvin next year the Defense will not have any real good players. And then who the heck will be the QB??? Not Bell…he may be a hulk but I am not sure he has the throwing arm, savvy, and / or the ability to scramble…running up the middle does not require much more than running down hill. We shall see…

Saban has been going after JUCO DT’s for a long time and it’s been working for him. Maybe Bob is changing his approach. I’m going to just keep telling myself that and hope something changes.

Getting commitments from possibly the best running back and a couple of highly rated DB’s is great stuff but if we don’t get at least two each of really good DT’s and OT,s we’re going to be in real trouble next year and beyond. I don’t care about 3, 4, or 5 star guys, it’s up to our highly paid coaches to do what they get paid for….GO FIND & SIGN the players who will make the difference…

I totally agree, and it all starts with Bob Stoops. For 4.5 million dollars per year, I am very underwhelmed by his performance as a head coach and as a recruiter over the past couple of years. To add injury to insult, I suspsect A&M will torch our defense in the Cotton Bowel and that may explain why Manning steered away from Norman.

Shipp did. Outside of one good player, he hasn’t recruited well at all, AT ALL, the past 4-5 years. We won’t have enough DL to get through spring practice. Can you believe Granger’s brother wouldn’t sign with OU? Last year was Mario Edwards, same deal. We lost out on another stud and had to settle for a lesser recruit.

This year’s class is epic fail unless a miracle gets this thing turned around. This is why we’re #10-15 nationally, and not 2-3 competing for national championships like the stretch between 2000 and 2004.

This kid was what I’d call strong, but not even an ‘elite’ DT.

Stoops needs to address the situation…next up is the OL, linebackers, and DE coaches.

Justin Manning was supposed to be a Sooner. It was a foregone conclusion. Who the hell screwed this up?
