I don’t have a problem with the University President reminding the OU community to act with civility toward your guests in anticipation of a much-hyped game against an opponent you rarely play. University presidents are often the ones who have to apologize when punkish or crass fan and player behavior makes the University look bad. University of Miami presidents had to do this frequently during the 80s and 90s.

@Jim C – thank you for your service. I’m currently at 12 years active duty and counting. I don’t think our service really matters in the discussion, nor does it give one a monopoly on the “right” answer (as evidenced by the differing opinions between William McCain (25 yrs) and I (12 yrs), and you (28 yrs)). I don’t believe I was complaining, but obviously expressed an opinion different than yours. Looking forward to the game and Go Irish!

No Irish fan, no one peed on anyone. The UT fan went into the wrong kind of bar, you know, the kind common sense tells most people to stay away from and acted like a complete a-hole, and picked a fight with the wrong man. He didn’t pee on him but ripped his nut sack off. If you’re a Texan, you should behave in Oklahoma biker bars.

It is really quite simple, just be respectful and treat others nicely. The Golden Rule.

I have visited Oklahoma as both a Sooner fan and as a visiting fan. The worst experience I’ve ever had as a visiting fan was in Norman. Granted, I have not visited Lubbock yet.

The second worst…Athens, GA.

I don’t know anything about the behavior of Notre Dame fans, but I spent 28 yrs in the Marine Corps and OU fans adjusting the words in the national anthem does not bother me in the least. What does bother me is people burning our flag so why don’t you complainers do something about that and leave the Okies alone? PLAY BALL.

My hope is that Oklahoma can take the lead that Pres. Boren has requested. Notre dame easily has the best, nicest fans I have ever seen…we need to return the favor and set the example unlike the SEC and Oregon .

Most of us Domers take special pride in our hospitality toward our opponents. We respect and admire the sacrifices made by all of these athletes for our entertainment. Of course, we are an imperfect group and not all of us live up to this ideal. I expect that Sooner fans are pretty much the same. I’m praying for a classy performance by everyone involved.
