Chris also mentioned that KState would also have to lose, probably twice. Also, Oregon will need to lose big or lose twice. I think the BIG is pretty much out of it as is the ACC. If Florida only loses to South Carolina or South Carolina only loses to Florida and the other team loses to Alabama in the SEC title game that would leave the one that didn't play Alabama with only one loss and probably rated ahead of OU and that would give Alabama a one loss SEC team that wouldn't be a rematch. Also, it looks like Oregon is the only really good team in the Pac 12 so they should win out. Chris is correct that is delusional to think OU still has a shot at the BCS Championship Game. In another couple of years when you only have to be in the top 4 then a one loss OU would have a chance.....not until then though will that happen. One good thing to come from the new playoff format. Scheduling. Ohio State and Texas, and OSU agreed to play a decent team at a neutral site in Houston. This could lead to some more interesting non conference games every year as teams try to up their strength of schedule.
If OU wins big against Texas and wins big against Notre Dame then they should move back into the top 8 and that will give them a very slim outside chance to make it. OU fans shouldn't count on that and should just be glad for any kind of win every week.

My thoughts... I know you guys and gals have to write about something, but I think you get too premature on most anything you write about pertaining to college football. Two weeks ago, your paper and many fans, wrote off the Sooners after one bad game/loss to a very good Kstate team. We had the turnovers, give credit to Kstate for forcing one of those, and it ended up being the deciding margin. Now to put us back in the title hunt after beating a team that may only win one game the rest of the year? PREMATURE. Even when we beat texass tomorrow, still way to much season left.

No...OU won one game...a big game considering what had happened two weeks before and they fact they got stunned a year ago at home by TT and they hadn't won in Lubbock since 2003. Otherwise, TT lost it last 6 (?) games last year and hadn't been tested before they played OU... OU did what it was supposed to do... beat a team they should have beaten. Does that put them back in the NC hunt...too many better teams left on the schedule to tell. It simply restores some belief that when they are focused they can be pretty good...but is that good enough? Right now they are good enough to be knocking on the door of being in the top 10. Lose another, and we will be lucky to be in the top 20.

Chris,

You only talk about SEC teams, which I happen to agree with you about. But, OU could clearly play the SEC team for the National Championship if it won out. Will there be two undefeated teams? And if the SEC champion has already beat the other SEC 1 loss teams, they won't rematch them.

Setting aside the crimson glasses, there's always a shot when you lose early (and you are OU). Having said that, this team is not national championship caliber in any way shape form or fashion. Period. Let it go man, let it go.

Sorry, but you are delusional. First OU would have to win out.....possible but not likely with Texas, Notre Dame and WVA still to go....second they would have to have KState lose twice to even win the Big XII. They would also have to have Alabama lose twice (who do you think would get in a one loss OU or a one loss Alabama?) and Oregon would have to lose once big or twice. Also, South Carolina would have to lose big to Alabama. Also, Florida has to lose twice. Any one loss SEC team gets picked before a one loss team from anywhere else. OU winning out would mean at least one loss for WVA and Notre Dame. Looking at all the things that would have to happen for OU to get back into the mix for the SEC Championship Game....I mean the BCS Championship Game (sorry same thing) it is delusional to think all those things will happen. The best OU can hope for is to win out and get to a BCS Bowl. If KState doesn't lose twice that might mean the Sugar Bowl agains the loser of the BCS qualification game...The SEC Championship Game.
