People, he was asked for his opinion on rule changes, it’s not like he’s out there picketing the NCAA for change. Geez, take a chill pill Jerry, i’m sure Stoops isn’t losing any sleep over the OT rule.

College coaches don’t want to have to give a schollie to kickers/punters. In an ideal world they wouldn’t have to decide a game. Buck up, offer a kicker.

No coach or team should worry about overtime. If you are good enough you don’t need overtime. Just win it in regulation. This says a lot about how good, or how bad, Coach Stoops thinks this current team is and the poor prospects for improvement in the future. A confident coach would say “I don’t worry about overtime. We just play to win when the game ends in regulation.” If you are worried about being able to score a field goal in overtime then you have NO confidence in your team at all. Also, if you score a touchdown in overtime it doesn’t mean anything if the other team scores a field goal.

I agree with him. Make the team march further to get in field goal range. Don’t punish teams that design their defense for regulation play or build a team with defense and ball control in mind.

Recruit a kicker who can kick a 40 yard field goal and a quarterback who can hold on to the ball and you don’t have anything to worry about in overtime. Also, it would be nice if this team was good enough to take a decent team to overtime. The thing to do is make sure you win the fourth quarter and forget overtime. Personally, I am against overtime in high school and college football except for playoff games. If the game is a tie in regulation it stays a tie.

As for Stoops’ take on changing the OT rule. I like it. The 25 is too easy.

Stoops team is floundering and he’s interested in OT rules. Typical Liberal, try to distract people from the real issue.
