Flat in the first game? Usually a given for OU. Give them the week of playing a not-so-good team…a week off…and they’ll be noticeably better when they begin the run of KSU, Tech and Texas.

The mistakes I saw were execution and assignment footabll…easily correctable.

It was a team effort to fail the first test. That means the teacher failed, when the whole class failed. OU will sink or rise to the level of competition that they are compatible with. They finished #16 in the final poll last season. After Sat. night, thats where they need to be ranked to start. Right now they are not top 15 material and beating FLA&M will not prove they are any better than 16.

Venables is the reason why linebackers have always been good for OU. If little Stoops and his Arizona side kick can’t get it done on defense, then this should be the year for Bob Obama to pack his bags and hit the road.

I agree with the comments above about the line being the issue. The OL is really due to injuries. You’d have to think things would be different with an experienced Habern and Evans still playing.

Defensively we had 2 players gone for suspension/personal reasons. At least in those situations those players will be back.

Hopefully that will help with the LB corp. Not a lot of people are talking about the loss of Travis Lewis’s leadership. Corey Nelson is an enigma and Tom Wort’s name was hardly called all night.

Leadership and playmaking has traditionally come from the LB corp under Stooops (Lewis, Loftin,Lehman, Calmus, etc). Seems like that element is missing.

OU gets pushed around on both offense and defense line. Their offensive line pushes our defense backwards and our offense can’t hold a block.

Yep. Lines. Bad, bad, bad. How can the University of Oklahoma not have a good o line. Man that is what built sooner football. Defensive line too for that matter.

Yep, the story is in the LINES…on both sides of the ball…the biggest difference between teams like ALABAMA, LSU, USC and OU…can’t build a house without a foundation. Lots of work needs to be done on the lines…just don’t know where the help is going to come from….looks like freshmen WILL have to step up…and soon….
