E.J. Mason…. I’m not disagreeing with you, but do you really think that this oklahoma team did not have top 5 talent? It seems as if this team could have been the best ever but got cocky against a very good Kansas state team and even though it would’ve been tough, probably could’ve beaten LSU in the NC.

Tony…you miss the bigger picture. I had just returned to the US and OU after being a troop in the Army during the invasion of Iraq. This was a very memorable season and this game was a highlight of the new OU and how we could take not-top-5 talent and dominate anyone on any given day. Many of the troops overseas remember this game as an icon and temporary get away from the war. Not to mention now, anytime a real Aggie fans starts talking crap about the Sooners, I just mention “77-0″. It’s quite effective….they either saw it or heard of it. Games like that…along with losing to the horns and teams like TTech and OSU surprassing them are why the Aggies are now in the SEC. Cant just be the $$. My humble opinion.

Not much of a game or a surprise with the outcome. Sooners were big favorites. The only surprise was the fighting Aggies had no fight. Stoops was accused of running up the score. Was a good win, not a great one.

So all that said….i disagree. this was NOT the best Sooner wins…it was a slaughter that played no part ion anyones mind about how good OU was, or how bad A&M was. First disagree on the listings so far. Just my opinion.

Total mismatch. Players were instructed to go half speed to keep it from being a total embarrasment. This game was much more than the 70s team….it was like watching a high school team playing the Super Bowl Champs. It was hard to watch and not be feeling what the A&M kids had to be feeling. They looked dumbstruck going into their locker room at halftime. I was one of those wearing an OU shirt but applauding them for trying and offering encouragment as they made their way into their locker room at the end of both halves.
