Mike has his work cut out is an under statement. His brother's philosophy, since Mike left, was to out score and hold on for dear life. Works well when it turns out Bob's way. He gets credit for a win, makes excuse's for the defense and its former Co-Ord. LG. What few loss's he's had over the years since Mike left was glossed over in the press. This year his Luck ran out. 38 pts., with a decent, prepared defense, should beat just about any opponent, but it didn't. TT-Three times, BU, BYU, Miami, to name a few. Hopefully Mike can restore the lost art of defense at OU to put some W's in the history books in BCS games, road games.

I agree with Chris. Last year the defense seemed to not know where they were supposed to be or where they were supposed to go. They need to keep it simple and play basic defense. Also, if the OU offense moved the ball on the ground without the top running back it is not a good sign at all.

I like what Mike seems to be focusing on: fundamentals, positioning, playing physical. Not enough of that under Brent. Mike needs to make it simple and teach these kids the fundamentals.

But the mere fact that the defense has fared well against this offense doesn't say much. The offense was a mess at the end of the season. That's probably not an elite offense in practice.

Sounds like the cat is getting out of the bag, since Mike is back. Maybe that is a sign that smash mouth football will come back in Norman, or, maybe not.
