I think getting WVU will lead to more non conference games with the ACC. maybe we steal a couple of those teams in a couple of years.... We are recruiting well in PA. So, who knows....Pitt may be a possibility in a few years. Can you say...TV, $$$$, and recruiting?? Add Memphis and Cincy to get back to 12. Tennessee and Ohio markets....for those concerned with money...Ohio a big winner....

With WVU and the Big East it isn't about money...at least not the exit money. It is about the survival of the Big East. Boise State is wavering about joining...saying they can't be there by 2012. Look at all the very early preseason polls for next year. WVU is a top ten team and Boise is barely in the polls. No other Big East school is even mentioned. If they can't force WVU to stay they lose any chance of being included in any talk of maintaining an automatic qualification in the next round of BCS talks. If they don't keep that then they dissolve. There would be no reason for Boise State, Houston, SMU or San Diego State to travel east and no reason for mid level teams that are left to remain. They will go back to being a basketball only conference. That is why it will go to court and will appeal forever to delay any decision to keep WVU for at least one more year and try to make it two. The courts will see other teams are leaving but are fullfilling the terms of the contract and will demand WVU to provide compelling evidence why they cannot stay to complete their contracts if Pitt and Syracuse can. The Big XII seems to think it is about coming up with enough buy out money. Buy out money doesn't keep the Big East with an automatic BCS qualification and that is what they are fighting tooth and nail to keep. UT still looks at all the money Notre Dame gets to keep and the sweetheart deal they have with the BCS and say why not us? If they can stand to lose T A&M they can certainly lose OU. Also, the Pac 12 made it very clear this past year they really don't want OU with OSU and OU cannot go anywhere without OSU.

Jerry,

Personal attacks wouldn't even help you. Not with the kind of brash ignorance you're putting on display here. Texas NEEDS the Big 12. I wish desperately that they'd go independent. But they won't, they know that that they would sink. OU doesn't need Texas on the other hand. The Sooners can finally head over to the PAC-12(14?) and all will be well.

Honoring a contract? Who in the hell are you kidding? I thought only old men were named Jerry, but apparently 12 year-olds are too.

No traffic, fresh snacks, no tips, no waiting, no muss or fuss, plus no exorbitant ticket price to pay for the hassle of getting a nose bleed seat to watch an over rated team.

Jerry,

I must say you do NOT understand the WVU situation and evidently have not been reading articles from WV and Eastern newspapers.

The Big East Conference owes money to WVU, and the number of teams in the Big East are working behind the scenes to exit from the conference ASAP, while others are joining to replace them. Memphis secretly joined today for 2012 (probably to replace WVU). The Big 12 knows all this info.

No one that I have "talked with" believes the court will decide the issue, and if they try to decide, the jurisdiction is in the WV court in the county where WVU is located.

WVU is the arm of the State, recently affirmed in Federal Court (meaans govern by WV law and sanctions to WVU have to go through State courts) and has filed a lawsuit against the Big East(before the Big East countered) complaining of many issues with the conference (fiduciary issues, lack of representation and negotiation issues with TV networks, non-football schools who get equal votes for Football TV contracts, etc.) that will be "backed up" during discovery.

Both sides have been negotiating for a settlement which should come very soon, or if not months later, the WV court will decide, long after WVU is in the Big 12. In these matters, you cannot make you wife stay married if she wants to leave and divorce you. You have to settle in the US.
