Brock....if it is ever going to happen ...Mike will get Bob's eyes to reopen. Video football is entertaining, sells tickets, and brings in the money..but takes a toll on the defense when the offense faces a team that shuts down the run and an average quarterback and group of receivers are shut down and go 3 and out, series after series. We may need a new O- line coach.....we have to run the ball more. I remember Bob Stoops first season...there were a couple of games that season...Notre Dame, Colorado, Texas...that could have gone the other way if OU could have ran the ball and controlled the clock. Instead there were INTs, fumbles, and 3 and outs that opposing teams capitalized on. The defense was on the field too much and we didn't have a lot of depth. The next year, we had a greater commitment to run - even HEUPEL ran the ball on QB keepers. Mike Stoops' Zona teams also suffered from a lot of injuries, however. But when Mkke was at OU, it seems like we didn't have the severity of injuries we do today.

Tim I pray you are correct about the amount of key injuries we have had year in and year out. All teams have the injury bug but ours has been over the top. There is something we are not doing on a daily basis, year round that would lessen the amount of injuries. What ever it is it needs to be corrected. We need to back to what was working for us offensively against better defenses.

While I don't think that Mike Stoops is a "savior" for the Sooners, it's quite possible that he will bring back the defensive intensity that's been missing since he left. Hopefully, opposing receivers running free through our secondary will become a thing of the past and our defense will be able to regain the aggressive, intimidating personality it had when Mike was here previously. There's no question that Mike's return to OU is not good news for folks in Austin, Stillwater and points beyond. Welcome back, Mike. We've sure missed you!
