Venables will be OK…he is a great linebacker coach. Mike will put the fire back in the defense and COACH the DBs. No one better to do that. He and Venables will be dynamic in scheming. Can’t wait…make the announcement!

Does anyone but me remember all the posts from folks at Martinez’ old school when he came to OU? I remember a lot of posts from fans at his old school telling us they were glad he was gone but sorry that we got him. They said in 2 years our secondary wouldn’t cover their grandmothers. Looks like they were right. By the way, I saw Bob yelling at Martinez at 2 different games this year. @Don – the talent is there. Colvin & Lynn were lock down DB’s in high school & highly rated but both got burned repeatedly this year. The same for most of OU’s DB’s. Most have just not progressed this year. They looked great at the spring game against our offense but didn’t progress against the Big 12′s best.

The critical comments today are interesting,Do you ever stop to realize there might be lack of talent on this year’s OU team,coaches do not play a down?

After the way OU’s secondary got scorched repeatedly this year (especially in the Baylor and TxTech games) it’s hard to imagine anybody wanting Martinez as any type of defensive coach, much less the defensive coordinator. I’m continuously baffled by the praise and supposed interest from other schools Venables and Martinez have received.
