Sooners Lose 47-17 In Terrible Performance

The fan and media reaction to this game tells the whole story of the “Spoiled OU Fan”. Opposing teams get “up” for playing OU, just like every team gets “up” for playing the Lakers or the Yankees.

I like the resilience the Sooner football team has shown this year, as opposed to the “fold ‘em” attitude that last year and the prior year’s teams seemed to exhibit at times.

Before anyone starts worrying about OSU, they’d better realise that K State and A&M are going to be very difficult games, particularly the K State game in Manhattan.

Like last season. When there’s no doubt in who will win in the fourth quarter, and the first team is still in, OU’s run game piles up stats. Where was that so called, run game, in the red zone from inside the 5 & 10 yd. line? No offensive line. This supposedly “new defense” is a con job for a real defense, which has been missing since ’02. Look at the stats. Only good thing that happened last night was they didn’t give up a score on a kick off or punt. Typical Stoops preparation. Make one of the worst teams in the nation look like a top 15 team. OU played Conference USA football for 3 quarters, and Oklahoma ball for 1. Put you foam schooner hat back on and go back to sleep.

The Sooners heard all week that they were going to win by 70 points and started to believe it. Can’t be “up” every week and were just “up” for Texas last week. Forget about this game. Look how the defense played in the second half after a stern talking to. They won by 30 points. Good enough! Move on.

Kansas will turn back into a pumpkin after midnight. Just like Missouri, they seemed to get up for this one game. True, the Sooners can’t afford to be bipolar. The wrong one shows up at the wrong time and kiss the NC goodbye.

Travis, here is an idea for a story or blog. See what OU defense does when lined up with 3 DL vs 4. Against MU a 3 man DL got no pressure, against KU (rushing team) and 3 man DL got runover. In the second half of KU it looked like we went back to 4 DL and big boy tackler Bird at MLB and stuff KU like a Thanksgivng Turkey.

Forget this game and move on. Even the best of teams lay an egg from time to time. That’s what happens when you are on the road and sit around all day waiting to play. The good news is that we still won by 30.

I think it’s funny how OU looked so disinterested in this game and (looked like crap at times) yet still won the game by 30..I’ll take the W anytime by 1 or 100.

Where do you think this judge is from? The criticism is way over done, and yet there is basis for this. The inability to run down at the goal line makes me uneasy, and I thought last nights effort was ragged. The effort we saw last night would not beat OSU, LSU or Alabama. What about Tech or K State? Yet you do have to give the Jayhawks credit and begin to wonder which version of the Sooners will show up for these tougher games. I’m thinking the Fla St and TU versions will show up when it counts the most.
