so sick of not equal coverage on espn…..example watched blazers and phoenix play…no coverage but have seen the highlights from the heat 5 times in the last 30 min…what a joke!!!!

esecpn is the root of all sports evil. cbs is just one step behind. wouldn’t even watch espn if i didn’t have to. got to see my SOONERS play, what little you will see on esecpn.

Fox doesn’t stand a chance against this giant “destructive” service called ESPN. I wish the Congress would step in and make it where all have a chance. But we know the Congress is on the corporate payroll. It really needs a good shearing, better yet rules that them from swinging things their way. Though FOX could buy a majority of their stock, it wont happen. College football has become “Pro Football” especially where the SEC and PAC 14 have positioned.

It is a fact, years of listening to the broadcasters on ESPN, they hate the Big 12. Primarily, OU, Texas, T A&M, OSU and TECH. They were giddy when Nebraska and Colorado left. They want nothing more than to dismantle the big 12, by any means necessary. Their favorites are the SEC and all northern colleges and conferences. the only ones worth listening to are Lou Holtz, and Kurt hurbstreet. Mark May is so biased it ain’t even funny. The Big 12s dominence makes them sick. They have some of the Best teams in the country, just look at the records. They talked about the Ohio state and USC issues for hours, not the big 12. It’s 2 bad they are our only sports news network.

Oh Pot, how you never flinch in calling the Kettle black. See what happens when a single media organization has a monopoly? This is how it feels to be an OSU fan in most of Oklahoma. (Those in and around Tulsa get a more even view on the tube and from the World). Just look at this site right now. Who are the offensive leaders in the Big 12? O State, Weedn, and Joseph Randle, and all the hype here is about a walk-on Langston reject? Give me a break. Whaley deserves some ink, but Good Grief the guy in Stillwater is doing it all and is talked up nationally, (check out the ESPN College Football page or CBS Sportsline), but as usual Fred Sanford could be tossing the rock for the Gaylord Gridders and he’d be predicted on here as a shoe-in to be invited to NYC on Heisman Day.

When will the longhorns ever realize that the rest of the country ISN’T as sold on them as they are on themselves? PLEASE go independent and call yourself the Gulf of Mexico League. And the whole mess was definitely the longhorn’s fault. I don’t blame any other conference with equal revenue sharing for not wanting UT to join them – then they’d all be facing the same mess the BIG XII is currently. Will A&M be rewriting their fight song – to be used for the next 100 yrs?

The role of the television and cable networks has mostly been overlooked in this whole sordid affair.

CBS “owns” the SEC and NBC “owns” Notre Dame. Fox and ABC/ESPN televise most of the rest. They must be exerting tremedous pressure to insure their “interest” in the ongoing episodes.

Does anyone believe that ABC/Fox wants CBS to pick off additional teams from their groups to move to the SEC?

The statement that it was the Longhorn Network that drove A&M to the SEC isn’t true. A&M has been chasing the SEC for decades. A&M was talking to LSU about SEC membership back in the 1980′s. Joe Dean, LSU’s AD at the time, has stated that in 1990 LSU was ready to sponsor A&M for SEC membership. Dean also met with A&M and UT representatives in January 1993 to discuss adding both schools to the SEC but UT wasn’t interested. In August 1993, the chairman of A&M’s regents meet with LSU’s chancellor to discuss a move by A&M to the SEC and came away favoring it. A&M ended up in the Big 12 only because of a combination of threats and incentives (including state approval for the funding of A&M’s new Reed Arena) from Bob Bullock. A&M really favored going to the SEC as opposed to staying in the Big 12 when things looked like they were going to blow up last year. If you live in Texas, you know that East Texas in general, and A&M in particular, has much more in common with the Old South culture of the SEC than with the Midwest or the Western frontier. A&M has been trying to get to the SEC for many years and finally has managed to pull it off. That it can try to lay the blame on its old nemesis is just icing on the cake.
