Thanks to President Boren's and Coach Stoops' premature remarks about the PAC12, there is really no way to spin this rejection in any way that is favorable to the image of the university. The dearth of TV sets In Oklahoma and OU's pedestrian academics cost it a shot at being invited. Like it or not, OU is wedded to Texas' academic standing and multitudinous TV sets. May as well make up and take it like a man.

Believe this is just posturing by both sides. The TV reports indicate that Stanford was the main adversarial not wanting to add the four Big12 Schools. Western newspapers this morning said that the Pac12 better wake up and accept them in light of conference shuffling or they could find themselves without a full deck. Bickley of the Republic indicated that the Pac12 is not getting good attendance at their games. The real story has not been written.

OU Faithful:

Don't be so down on your president. You still have some cards left. From a respectful Husker, you do need to do some soul searching. UT helped wreck two conferences now. Why are you so tied to them? We will miss the annual rivalry with OU, and some us don't relish driving to ..Pennsylvania?!? If you would have stuck with NU when it was the only vote against the UT greed and arrogance in the Big 12, then we would all still have a good chance of retaining our historic ties. But NU was alone voting no. Often. OSU and A&M would have followed your votes with NU, along with Missouri and CU. But your greed got the best of you, rather than doing what was best for the conference. The sooner you ditch the beast to the south, or get it properly trained, the better off you will be. Good luck, it will probably still work out for OU and OSU.

Since OU and OSU have more native Texans on their respective squads than native Okies, they have allowed themselves to become dependent upon the State of Texas for on-field talent.

Like it or not, the State of Texas holds the upper hand when compared to college football in the State of Oklahoma.

Consider This:
Top 10 TV markets in Texas-2 In Oklahoma-0
Div I teams in Texas-10 (12 in 2012) In Oklahoma-3
Population in Texas 25 million Oklahoma-3 million
OK. kids on 10 Tex Teams-20 Texans on 3 OK. teams-118

Oklahoma schools are joined at the hip with the State of Texas. When Stoops and Gundy stop recruiting in Texas, the Oklahoma schools will not be dependent upon their neighbors south of the Red River.

This makes OU look real bad. Now we will have bad blood not only on the football field with Texas, but within the Big 12 itself. This conference will take "dysfunctional" to a whole new level. And OU is now stuck, with absolutely no alternatives. Definitely not dealing from a position of strength anymore!

I think OU has lost its leverage. As an Alum, I am very disappointed by our desire to remain in the Big 12 with Texas. Are we still playing second or third fiddle to Texas? Looks like it to me
