Bo, I was responding to Chad’s comment above that he has “BEEN WAITING FOR THAT SUPER STAR TIGHT END … THOUGH WE HAVE HAD TALENT AT THAT POSITION,IT HASNT BEEN NO …” (I just can’t keep quoting that).

Anyway, this is just more gel to mold. He’ll have his chance. I’m still more excited about Haywood’s future.

Chris, give him a chance. Some guys, like Germaine, had even more praise by the press and lived up to it. Others didn’t come through as advertised. Sam had little press and look at the Heisman and number 1 draft pick, rookie of the year, etc. Your comments are really negative and you don’t know yet. Let him prove himself. Coaches don’t recruit NFL ready experts, just people with the raw talent to mature/develop into something special….

I don’t think this guy is the next Keith Jackson or Germaine Gresham. He’s just another mid-level tight end recruit that will hopefully pan out. Hanna, Millard, and Haywood all came in with similar fanfare in recent years.

Robert thats 21 Championship games in 11 yrs, no Coach in history has done as well.

Robert, cast no aspersions-we are talking about recruiting 18 and 19 year olds who have potential and talent. Some make it and some don’t. Stoops has done a great job and several of those who did’t rate much ink did well including a Heisman winning now pro quarterback. On the other hand, Peterson and Murray both got ink and produced. You gotta kiss alot of frogs to get a prince. From your post you need to get in line just in case.

Robert, are you insinuating that Bob Stoops doesn’t get enough production out of his recruits? Is that “Bob’s problem” (assuming he has one)? He seems to be doing pretty well. Isn’t the average around 11 wins per year over the last 11 years? And during the first few of those years, the roster was almost void of blue-chip recruits.

If Bob and OU have problems with “top talent” (the average Rivals ranking for a Bob Stoops class is probably just outside the top 10), then Texas, Florida, USC, Notre Dame, Georgia, and even LSU really have problems. I doubt that not getting superior performance from recruits is a special Bob Stoops problem. If anything, I think Bob’s recruits may overachieve a bit. Before this last class, it had been several years since OU had even gotten a single Rivals 5 star commitment.
