That list is pretty suspect. Any team can win a bunch of games that don't mean anything. When you look up # of tournament appearances, national championships, etc., OU is below Marq. And that's what really matters to fans these days.

Hey, I'm not a Marq fan but you got me riled up and I did a little digging. Since joining the BE in 2005, they have like the second best conference record. And they were in C-USA before which wasn't considered a mid-major like it is now (Cincy, Memphis, Louisville.)

Marq is also in the top 10 for attendance, and plays in an NBA arena. Again, I think OU is a great job, but is no better than lateral from Marq. Maybe I'm wrong and Buzz will come to OU. I just don't see it.

Bob, Marquette has only been in the Big East since 2005. Not exactly what you'd call a legacy member... Heck, most people don't even realize they are in the Big East at all.

Until this year, Marquette's never moved past the 2nd round in the NCAA tournament while a member of the Big East. With the exception of 2003, their success was limited to the 70's.

Marquette has 1 Nat'l Championship from '77. Other than that, the success of both schools is quite comparable depending on which stat you're looking at. However, if you want NCAA tournament wins, OU leads that by a long ways.

Whit Gardner,

Xavier is, has always been, and more than likely will always be a mid-major. Not even sure how a person could argue otherwise.

Marquette is in the Big East and has a much better basketball history than OU. Look it up. Many logical people would conclude that OU is a clear step down from Marquette. Butler and Xavier maybe not - they are mid-majors, but both have a pretty good thing going on.

While I don't think Brad Stevens will be coming to OU, and I don't see Buzz Williams either, all of you who seem to think OU is a subpar basketball job are being extremely shortsighted.

OU has been one of the top 25 college basketball programs over the past thirty years. The facilities are great, and you can recruit from Texas.

While OU isn't Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, or UCLA; it is still a step up from Xavier, Marquette, and Butler. Don't kid yourselves.

Based on the the opinions I see on here, a coach would have rather had the head football job at Syracuse than at OU in the late 90s...

I don't think we could land Buzz. Sounds like he has a great thing going where he's at. Really, assuming Marqette pays him top dollar, why would he leave there to come here? Let's be realistic for once. Also, we're not getting Izzo, Calipari, Boeheim, or Calhoun. And, please Lord, no, No, NO to Pearl! The last thing we need is more NCAA violations. Let's open the checkbook and make a run at Stevens.
