Non-conference football schedule set in stone

Sooner athletic director Joe Castiglione said Monday that the school’s non-conference football schedule is set in stone. The conference schedule, however, remains fluid.

OU’s non-conference schedule is Tulsa on Sept. 3; at Florida State on Sept. 17; and Ball State on Oct. 1.

With the way the non-conference schedule is set, the Sooners could end up playing a conference game the second week of the season on Sept. 10.

Not going to Missouri on Sept. 10, they’re playing Arizona State on September 9th:

Welcome back a real conference schedule. Playing all the teams in your conference every season home-n-home, the way conference football is supposed to be.

I vote for Kansas if it is the second game of the season or Iowa State (who always plays Iowa pretty tough early in the season). We need a get ready game for FSU, but not a TT game or even a KSU game (we always get beat up physically in that game). What about an off week and play Mizzou in Dec?

Yeah, Judge, we’re playing ever team again, except the only one that used to actually count, each Thanksgiving. This stinks. I say we schedule Nebraska every year for a non-conference game and try to work it in the third week of November. Send the Horns to the Big Ten.

Tulsa will be no cakewalk, and OU historically plays rusty in openers. Wish Ball State was the week before FSU…OU needs another tune up before playing the Seminoles. Although it is said that college teams make the most improvement between the first and second games. I’d just hate to see OU not be fully prepared for FSU and not bring their A game due to only playing one game.

I like the idea of playing a conference foe on the 10th. Maybe Tim’s idea is the best fit. Give OU a solid, but not in-your-face opponent to fine tune the offense and especially the special teams (PLEASE!)

All this confusion, the Big XII is a done deal. Break away now OU…go west to where you can leave the losers in your wake. OU has never needed or wanted this southwest conf. flavor. If the Longhorns want us on the schedule they need to pay BIG bucks. We’re a football shool. The Big XII is made up a bunch of basketball schools. So let’s get moving in the right direction with our sports program. PAC 10 here we come. JC

JC, Pull your head out now while the pulling is good. We need to be in the BIG 12 and not in the PAC 12. I say stay away from the dopeheads and idiots out west.

It doesn’t matter when we play FSU, 1′st week, or 4′th week, Stoops will have the Sooners ready. Thats what all them practices are for. Get ready for whoever you play Sooners!
