RB Roy Finch to miss Fiesta Bowl with stress fracture

Oklahoma freshman running back Roy Finch will miss the Fiesta Bowl due to a “recurrence of a stress fracture injury in his left foot” suffered during Friday’s practice.

Team physicians performed surgery Saturday to insert two pins.

Bob Stoops said Finch will be sidelined for up to seven weeks, but is expected back in time for the team’s spring workouts.

Friday’s injury occurred in a non-contact drill. He missed the first five games of the season with a similar injury.

The injury is a blow to the Sooner offense, which had been clicking the last few weeks of the season in part due to Finch’s emergence.

The last four games, Finch had rushed for 67, 33, 42 and 37 yards and scored two touchdowns.

He was instrumental to the dynamic “diamond formation” OU unveiled at Baylor which placed him, DeMarco Murray and fullback Trey Millard in the same backfield at once.

With Finch out, the Sooners will likely turn to senior Mossis Madu to back up Murray. After a midseason benching due to fumbling, Madu had gradually worked his way back on the field.

He had three carries for 12 yards and a 15-yard reception against Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship.

well balls. Hopefully this doesnt mean he is going to have an injury prone career.

OU won’t need him. Looking forward to seeing what he’s able to do next year, though. I think he could be a great one if he can stay healthy…something like Quinten Griffin as they’re very similar in size and running style.

Finch is like Griffin in that he is an “undersized” back. But Roy Finch has something that Griffin never had; Finch has was Barry Switzer used to call “super-quick.” There are times when he’ll get stuffed at the line because he got to the hole before the hole opened up. With his speed, deceptive power, and ability to catch the football, Finch could force OU to add some wrinkles to its play book. The question isn’t can he play. The question is can he stay healthy. Hope so. We’ll see.

uh-oh……here we go again…..who’s next ??

I thought it was DeMarco who usually got dinged going into a bowl game…..

@least it isn’t tramel being the bearer of bad news, (which he relishes). The only thing he knows about football is what he learned in the showers.

Brendon Clay will get his chance as a result of this injury, and let’s hope this propells him to great things. I think he will be more than adequate as a replacement.

Clay will play, but so will Mossis.

He’s a senior, and let’s hope the best for him.

Remember how well he helped Chris Brown power the run game with Demarco was out before?

He just needs to hold that baby tight.

By the way, has anybody thought of Broyles in that diamond?

Just an idea.

No worries, OU will rout UConn even if the scout team has to play them.

How sad for him and the team. They just need to stay focused and not let ANYTHING distract them from what they are going to the Fiesta Bowl to do.

Roy – chin up, dude…. you had a great debut year, and we’re all excited about your future.

Bummer for OU and Finch.
Madu got my vote for MVP in the Big 12 championship game, though, so I’ll be happy to see him play more. He got my vote because he could have panicked and ran one of those long kickoffs out of the endzone trying to make a big play, but instead wisely took a knee as a smart senior should. He helped set the tone for the Sooners to stay calm and get to business, and that was great leadership.

Your D-Line better show up for the Jordan Todman show. If Uconn can win the battle on the line, get some breaks and have a good kicking game, this is going to be a close one. Call Steve Spurrier as his team was disapointed to play the Huskies in last year’s bowl as well. Uconn 20-6 over SC.

Well hearing this was a rude awakening to the day! Hope he gets well and stays well. In the meantime, I’ve been a fan of Madu for 3 seasons. Yeah, he made some crucial mistakes with those fumbles but all in all he’s been a solid backup. My brother and I have a phrase everytime Madu gets in a makes something happen…”that’s how you ‘Madu’ it!”

Finch is very good now, possibly great in the future, if he can stay healthy, learn to slow down a little and allow his blockers to do their job.

But for the game against UConn, it won’t matter. Murray, Madu, Clay, etc. will have their way all day.

We’re talking UConn. UConn? Are we talking about UConn? Yes Allen Iverson, unfortunately we are talking about UConn.

Still despite all of this, don’t get complacent OU. Go out tthere and hang half a hundred by half time!

And so it begins. Another chapter in Fiasco Bowl history. Expect at least three more key players to suffer injuries that will keep them out of the game, and expect someone to get suspended for stealing something from the mall once the team arrives in Arizona.

The Bible only told you about 10 of God’s commandments to Moses. The 11th was “The University of Oklahoma shalt not win the Fiesta Bowl.”

Aside from that, It is undoubtedly just one of the numerous well-known individuals emotions encountered by persons at some stage in their very own lives.(review it too here in this post Side Effects Of 5htp).

I say yes; The good thing regarding plant sterols certainly is the idea that they will absorb the required degree of HDL blood cholesterol from the person’s intestinal system.
