Adrian FREAKING Peterson is the BEST player on this entire list, Jake. What an idiot? And you are an OU Beat writer? Sound more like a TX beat writer to me. Peterson should be the top offensive player and the top RB. Vince had one good year. Granted it was an amazing NC year, but Peterson had 3 and two of them were half years. Where is Vince and R. Williams now? Peterson is the best player in the NFL. What a loser.

Jake, you voted Sproles over Peterson? Really? Were you even around at the time to see Sproles play? I was and he was nowhere nearly as impressive as Peterson, injuries or no injuries. Peterson was the kind of player that an offense was built around, and he carried the team in some respects. Sproles was like a souped-up version of Quentin Griffin: extremely effective but not dominant.

I agree with most of your other votes. I would have voted Roy Williams for top defensive player simply because I have never seen a DB dominate collge football games the way he did. There have been scores of defensive linemen who dominated the game like Suh (Selmon, Rich Glover, Jerome Brown, Wistrom, just to name a few) but I personally have never seen a DB dominate games until I saw Roy. I'm surprised Torrance Marshall did not get at least one vote from somebody for linebacker. He was inconsistent his first year but by his senior year he was as good as any of the others and maybe better than Lehman (gasp). Marshall made huge plays in the biggest games.

Jake, seems that you agreed with most of the writers on most of the positions. How can it be that Colt McCoy was not voted the best at QB, since he won the most games in the history of the college football. Vince Young was a freak of nature, but his first two years were not all that impressive, and his third year OU was down. Also, how can you pick Darren Sproles over Adrian Peterson at running back? Sproles has the most all purpose yards, but was no competition for Peterson at running back.
One thing this shows is that OU coaching staff does much better with not the best talent. Texas had six first teamers but only won the conference title three times.
