The AP poll has been irrelevant since it stopped being part of the BCS. If the AP wants me to care where they rank teams, talk to the BCS about getting back in and drop the Harris Poll.

Berry Trammel’s idea that the AP poll is irrelevant is typical of his knee jerk negativism. We all can figure out for ourselves that it doesn’t count for the national title. But the fact is, people all over the country care what the AP poll says. And until they stop noticing, it still has relevance. As much as ESPN annoys us, until people stop watching, it too has relevance. OU’s record run in the AP poll should not be ignored or discounted.

Joel: Think you hit the nail on the head. Healthy.
Seems like the last few years have been rife with injuries. Wonder if the strength and conditioning regimen is sufficient.
One look at Gresham the other night and it seemed to me that he is off to a good NFL start, don’t know of conditioning is factor, but he did look healthy. Not wanting to throw anybody under a bus, but whoever runs the conditioning program at OU needs to step it up a bit.

I think that’s a fair ranking although Boise State being ranked that high is kind of a joke. They play one team this year of any consequence whatsoever and that’s Va. Tech. who is probably ranked too high as well. I also see TCU dropping off dramatically this year. If OU can get by Texas (and they should be favored to win that game) then they have a pretty good shot at going undefeated. They just need to keep everybody healthy!
