Boise State head coach to visit Sooner practice
Boise State football coach Chris Petersen said Thursday that he will visit Oregon and Oklahoma for professional development during BSU’s spring break, which is March 27-April 4.
The Sooners will be practicing that week.
“I’m really interested in how Oregon practices,” Petersen told the Idaho Statesman. “And I just think Bob Stoops has done such a great job at Oklahoma over the years — he’s got his formula on success. I just have a bunch of questions. And I want to watch how they practice.”
Ironically, OU was the team that solidified Boise State’s status as a power program. The Broncos famously shocked the Sooners in the 2006 Fiesta Bowl using a series of trick plays.
* Former OU asst. recruiting coordinator David White has taken a job with Yale, FootballScoop.com reported. White came to OU as a graduate assistant from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, where he was the head coach for several seasons. Thanks in large part to White, OU got several big-time recruits from Bishop Gorman, including DeMarco Murray, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Chaisson. After serving two years as a grad assistant, White was given a job last year working as a asst. recruiting coordinator, but the position was a one-year arrangement.

jadams, you for sure one of the racist pigs i have ever read. You must be a Texas fan, why would you even comment on something you don’t know about. The world needs less of people like you ( racist, hateful, mean, and ignorant). Go Sooners, It is a good thing that Peaterson knows that he can learn something from Bob Stoops.
Those comments are racist. I’m no Sooner fan(Longhorn here), but meaningful comments don’t need to include things such as jadams spouts. Now to something more to the point. Look out, you Sooners, for our kid QB. After his indoctrination in Hellfire by Bama, he’s gonna come on strong. Best of luck to you in October.
There are nutcases walking among us. Ignore “jadams” and let him live in his own personal misery.
I agree with Don and Larry, who are smart enough to show some class. Larry — new QB’s with immense talent are prone to huge ups and downs (see Bradford’s first year). I hope this is the Sooner’s year in October!
.
this shows the humility in Chris Petersen and this is perhaps the reason why he is so successful.
in contrast to some coaches which they never learn or perhaps too proud to change for the better.
.
That first post was classic ignorance at it’s best. As for the rest of you, you all made good points. Me personally I don’t like Chris Peterson going to Norman because he already knows how to beat the big boys…if he learns too much OU may never beatem if they play again. As for OU’s Basketball team those so called “Thugs” will prove some people wrong. Tattoo’s don’t make people thugs, I have a few and I work with plenty of tatooted co-workers. In case you think my job has a bunch of so called thugs I will tell you I work for the United States Navy. Eat that jadams
WOW, I woke up the LEFT. Good to see somebody on your side has reading
skills. It is What It Is. Politically Correct is a Left Wing, Bill/Hillary Deal, not
an Objective outlook on things. I appreciate the input, but soaking the
people that are fans of OU for Donations, Tickets, Sooner Club Memberships,
is getting old. When all you put on the field or court is a shadow of the
great teams that played those venue’s. It’s not a “race” thing, it’s an integrity
thing. Bobby Boy admitted he brought in coach’s that would elevate OU back
to prominence, Leach, Mangino, Mike Stoop’s, and other’s that have left
the program. Remember OU was running under the radar for 10-TEN SEASON’S
DURING GIBB’S, SCHNELLY, BLAKE. Now he has to produce, and he can’t do it.
Capel was trying to be an over-achiever, by bringing in a lot of “questionable” HS player’s. IT Is What It Is! Not working. Get a grip! I
mentioned Duke for a response and I got it, now at least your eye’s are open. Ain’t it great to be in the Land of the Free(Speech, Choice, etc.) &
The Home Of The Brave. Thank A Veteran For This. Remember Left is Wrong
& Right is RIGHT! God Bless All My Reader’s.
You didn’t mention Duke for a response. You made a comment that insinuated black players are thugs and white players aren’t, for a response. All of your comments are stupid and would likely have a received a response, it is just that most people chose to focus on the silliest of them.
I agree with Josh, jadams please go back to bed you did wake up on the wrong side.
Larry your QB did get his start in the heat of the battle for sure. I am just glad that Landry has his first year battles over and hope to see a great game this October.
Go Sooners.
jadams, your comment has nothing whatsoever to do with Left/Right. Don’t go gettin’ all political on us. I know lots of people at both ends of the spectrum who are not racist. It’s certainly not hard to catch your drift when you use your buzz words like ‘thug’ and ‘tattooed outlaws’. And by the way, I’m a proud Vietnam Vet, 62 years old, Bronze Star recipient. And we do have freedom of speech because of sacrifices by many; but we need to use responsibility and show respect for people when we speak. Slamming people indiscriminately is not a grown-up thing to do.
Hope this is not a spying mission since Mack Brown and his entire coaching staff visited with Boise earlier this month.
jadams,
It’s very perplexing, you look much smarter than you really are. Have you been a naughty boy and not taking your medication again? Santa may not come see you if you persist in being yourself.
These visits by coaches to other programs is becoming more and more common. Stoops and some of his staff did the same a few years back. This year he spent some time with Saban and his staff. The focus is usually on practice organization not “how to play” football. There is so much the coaches and players need to do but are greatly limited by the time limit constraints imposed by the NCAA. No doubt Peterson will be talking about fund raising and program building too.
And, just my two cents worth to jaadams. You left out that those former assistant coaches left for head coaching jobs. No one has had anything but positive things to say about coaching with Stoops. Secondly, no one is getting soaked, those people give their money to the OU program.
Lastly, the new QB at Texas got Texas close, but how much of that was due to Bama really backing off? There is no doubt he is talented and showed some moxy but he is still one huge question mark that becomes even larger when one considers Texas did not show much of a running game and has to replace several o-lineman. Even if this is an ‘off year” for Texas they won’t have the poor results OU did in ’09 because of a very soft non-league schedule. Still, all these variables is what makes college football so dang interesting.
Why wouldn’t Mack Brown visit?? He was Offensive Coordinator for Switzer before moving on to North Carolina.

First things first. You gott’a be shi**’in me. The BSU coach coming to Norman
to “learn” something from Bobby Boy. This has to be a Bogus story. Bobby
Boy couldn’t beat BSU if he played them 50X’s. The story should read, Stoop’s
& Staff go to BSU to pick up some pointer’s on how to prepare and play in a
BCS game! I still can’t believe Coach Petersen is coming to Norman, thats BOGUS!
Second, Thanks to Coach White, OU was left with a broken down running back.
A good linebacker, and a kid that is one step out of the jail house. Thanks a
lot Bobby Boy, great pick to buy some talent. Capel and Stoop’s have a lot in
common.
Last but not least. Could it be possible that the same recruiting Co-Ord., that recruited Balogun, was responsible for all the thugs Capel has accumu-
lated. Which brings me to the point. What’s the God Father going to do with
the Basketball program- Coach Thug and his gang of tattooed outlaws.
Just because he had highlight reels of him playing at Duke, doesn’t make him
a Coach. Remember, 75% of Dukes player’s are Caucasion.
