This is a quagmire for young Sam.

THe pros don't want a mobile quarterback. They want a patient quarterback who can deliver the ball accurately within a window. That's exactly what Sam Bradford IS.

Yet at the same time there is an obvious injury to his throwing shoulder.

It is quite a conundrum and many prospective NFL scouts have surely made footnotes in their recordings.

I want Sam to succeed. He's probably the first OU QB in the past 20 years that, as a person, isn't a complete d-bag. He's actually a good kid. The total package. One of few that actually deserve what his potential could bring. Irony.. though. Nice guys always finish last.

Should he stay or should he go now? If he stays it might be trouble. Yet if he goes it might be double. (Violent Femmes)..

Sam should do whatever SAM wants to do. Period. It's that simple. The guy is already a legend in my mind and i'm MORE than appreciative that he decided to come to Norman and play for OU!!

You ROCK Sam!! Boomer!

That a fair guess: surgery now, shut down for the season, and assess where the shoulder is in January before making the call on whether to go pro or stay in college.

However, if I were Bradford, I'd plan on going pro (unless the shoulder is so bad that he'd throw like a girl at the combine): as much of a dream as it is to play QB for the Sooners, there is simply way too much money now at stake to not take that into consideration.

Getting taken late in Round One, but a good team, and riding the pine for a year while the shoulder fully heals and he adjusts to the speed and complexity of the pro game would not be the worst thing in the world for a guy with as much intelligence and physical ability as Bradford. He'd more than make up for the lost signing bonus money in his second contract.
