Recruiting watch: Sooners land verbal

A day after beating Baylor 33-7, Oklahoma picked up a verbal commitment Sunday in offensive tackle Daryl Williams.

The 6-foot-5, 269-pound Williams, out of Corinth (Texas) Lake Dallas High School, chose the Sooners over Missouri.

Williams is rated the No. 45 overall prospect from the state of Texas and OU’s fifth verbal commitment on the offensive line for the class of 2010.

4 or 5 Bronson, Woods Sneed, Thompson plus Williams makes 5.

I’m worried were still getting verbales and are at 23 or 24 not sure, but that doesn’t leave much room for the five star players we are recruiting. Does that mean we have given up on all those five stars we are recruiting or do we have more than 25 or more slots to fill. We have only managed two five stars lots of four’s and several two’s and one’s. Question do we still have enough slots left for two or three top commetments? Any one out there know the answer.

After Miss. recruiting class of last year class sizes are now limited to the number of recruits you can bring in per class and OU is near the limit. According to Scout.com OU has 24 verbal. Of the 50 5-star recruits Scout has labeled there are 18 uncommitted and OU is still after 9 of those. Jackson Jeffcoat is the prize that OU really needs to get in my 0pinion along with a 5 star o-lineman which means that the kids OU has rated at the bottom of the recruiting curve would be left out when signing day actually rolls around. Sad in many ways but it happens to kids every year and they are left to find a school with a scholarship to offer.

hello

oh how we soon forget. remember when tech beat oklahoma, on a cold day in lubbock tx.in 2005. well honestly tech whipped oklahoma all day.still i want to set the record staight.tech was ahead 17 to 7,late in the third quarter. tech defense holds oklahoma to a 3 and out, but after the play is whistled dead, a oklahoma receiver shoves a tech defender in the face, the tech defender reacts, shove the oklahoma player back. a flag is thrown and oklahoma is given a gift. a unsportsman like penalty goes against texas tech, and oklahoma goes on about 8.5 minute drive and scores a touch down. later in the early 4th quarter techs defense has held oklahoma to a 3 and out again. the very same receiver shoves the very same tech defender in the face, the tech defender reacts, and shoves back. again a flag is pulled and oklahoma gets another free gift. unsportsman like against tech, a 15 yard penalty and first down for oklahoma, oklahoma goes another long time consuming drive and scores a touchdown to take the lead 21-17. oklahoma leaves 1:23 on the clock and tech has no time outs. cody hodges on a 4th and 3, throws in the middle of the sooner defense. his ball is picked off by a sooner linebacker. therefore a change of posession, and first down and 10 for oklahoma. wrong danny amedola, the intended tech receiver . steals the ball away from the running sooner defender therefore a change of posession again. texas tech ball and first and 10. well the officials blew that call completly. the line judge, takes the ball and marks where danny amedolas forward progress was when he actually stole the
ball, from the sooner defender. a measurement is taken and tech gets a first down by 1 inch. now im at that game and im sitting in the stands right on the goal line. it looked like on that last play that taurean henderson, had gotten buried by sooner defenders. where i was, there was no way he got in at all, he was avalanched by sooners in the backfield. wrong again, after the replay, he clearly never even came close to touching the ground until he stretched the foot ball across the goal line, a whole football length. well thats my pespective of the game, and well hes in , are you. go texas tech redraiders devildogcarl semperfidelis to all marines
