Sam Bradford: Reading between the lines
Reading Sam Bradford’s return the last couple weeks has been like reading a ouija board. Early last week, I thought Bradford was going to play against Miami. But on Wed., Bradford’s arm got sore and he lost velocity on his throws.
We found out mid-day last Thursday via school release that Bradford would be out for Miami.
But yesterday, a similar release never came. And I think that means the chances of Bradford playing Sat. against Baylor are pretty good.
If Bradford was like he was last week, then we would have gotten word Bradford was out already. But the fact the Sooners are waiting another day before deciding or announcing at the very least means Bradford is doing better this week.
That’s a good sign for him playing, because Bradford was fairly close to playing last week.
Tuesday, Bradford spoke for the first time publicly about his separated throwing shoulder at an impromptu press conference, and I came away less optimistic about the situation. Especially because Bradford admitted surgery was still on the table, something he declared two days after the injury he had all but ruled out.
But now — the opposite of last week — I feel better about his chances as the week has gone along.
Today, we all find out for sure whether the Sooners will finally get their Heisman Trophy winner back.
Reading between the lines, I predict they will.

I think it’s a sign of OU’s desperation to win at Texas. Our coaches know that our best chance of a W is with Sam at the helm and that he’ll need practice between here and the Horns, but I don’t think that any of us can rightfully be ignorant enough to think that he’s 100%. If he were, there would be no question, no necessity for betwixt-line-reading.

I hope you’re right, Jake. I would like to see him be able to play at least a half against Baylor before Texas next week. I don’t want him to play before he is ready, I just hope he is.
