Jameel Owens Update

Rumors of Jameel Owens’ departure from the Oklahoma program have swirled this week. He did miss some practice, but as of today, has no plans to transfer.

Owens’ mother was not at his home in Muskogee, but his aunt, Ann Owens, says he has no plans to transfer. Owens’ family was still planning on making the trip to Norman for the game on Saturday. She could not confirm whether he would be suiting up for sure, but did say she expected him to be in uniform.

I hope he stays & toughin it out. I dont why he’s not gettin playin time, epecially after that bad showing by most of the wr last vs byu. If owens got the talent, he wiil get on the field eventually i think

He thougt he was something special, he was treated like someone special, Hennessey took him to lunch everyday personally and rarely let him out of his sight. He constantly had it pounded in his head that he was the next Lynn Swan, Jerry Rice. He listened to too much of that crap, missed practices, spent more time running his mouth than his legs.

He was counciled by OU coaches on his behavior but still only heard the voices from high school. Too bad he listened to the wrong coaches. Maybe now he’ll listen to some D2 or NAIA coaches…maybe he wont. From what I hear McDonalds is always hiring. There may be a future for Jameel yet…

It’s a good thing opinions are like ???holes evryone got one.hopefully? the last submitter will think before he opens his mouth again. The thing is jameel knows he was special but when you got to school in Norman everyone is special ,this isnt time for hime to give up he had two great catches last year all he needs is for the coach to let him play, from the looks of things right now they need all the help they can get.

He caught 4 passes and had two drops. A 15 yard catch during mop up is hardly great. WE ALL HAD GREAT EXPECTATIONS AND HIGH HOPES FOR JAMEEL. But D1 Football at a National level requires WORK and it was just made to easy for him at MHS. Its not entirely his fault though. To say “the coaches just need to let him play” is further proof that you and others are too much of the problem he is suffering from.

Now the truth of the matter is this and this is no opinion my friend. D1 is nothing like HS. You either work yourself into exhaustion and beyond every day and every play or you be gone.

Marcus Dupree is gone and so is Barry Switzer. Those days are over. And if you know anything about Sooner Football you’ll know exactly what I talking about.

I dont think things where made easy for jameel, he had very few touchdowns his senior year and getting a chance to play at ou is a privilege for anyone with his ability, i grew up during the barry switzer years and I know it takes a lot of work but if you follow the sooners like i do, you would know that jameel has shown promise and to have some catches in a game when you wasnt expected to play is a big damn ,deal!it may not be great to you but i beleive in the kid.its people like you my friend who dont allow time for growth.

Im sure jameel has no idea who lyn swan is and if the coach showed or gave that much consideration to him he knew the kind of trouble youngsters his age or up against and mainly wanted to keep him out of trouble buyt to say Mcdonalds is hiring is wrong and shows that you lack charactor and dont wish for anyone to have anything in life.

if jameel stays with ou he will start if not his junior but fersure his senior year..and muskogee boy is right…D1 football is so much dif from highschool. jameel was a star here…hes and average wide receiver now..i personally think he shopuld have went to oklahoma state..he would have started sophmore year.
