Tebow vs. Bradford (battle of the bios)
My friend Ben Volin, who covers the Florida Gators for the Palm Beach Post, wondered about the length of Tim Tebow’s bio on the official Gator football Web site.
His findings? 3,089 words (9 pages single spaced in Microsoft Word) , which, as Volin puts it, might be the longest sports bio in the history of the world.
I thought for a comparison, I would check out the team bio for Sam Bradford, who for those who forget was named the best player in college football last season.
Bradford’s bio? 785 words, 2 pages, single spaced.
I’m all for informative bios. But when the bio comments that Tebow “had six rushes for 38 yards at Vanderbilt, including a team-best run of 25 yards,” I think we might going overboard.

I’m so sick of hearing how that football in SEC country is so much bigger than anywhere else. It’s just as big in Oklahoma and Texas. You guys live in your own little world with blinders on shutting out everyone else. I understand that football is huge down there but it is here too. And you’d better believe that Sam’s a good passer. If you were really going to give him his due credit you’d admit that he’s better than your beloved Tim Tebow. “It’s a southern thing. Football is a little bigger here.” Give me a break. The only thing that is bigger there is the group of nuthuggers all over Tim Tebow.

It’s a southern thing.
Football is a little bigger here… so are the bios.
I still believe that Sam’s a good passer though.
