Austin American-Statesman beat writer Suzanne Halliburton snapped a picture of the wall with her cell phone that shows the Texas Longhorns claiming 2008 (with an asterisk) among their Big 12 championships.

Last season, OU edged out Texas and Texas Tech for the South title in a three-way tie determined by the BCS Standings, despite a fervent protest from Texas coach Mack Brown and Longhorn fans.

The Sooners went on to beat Missouri to win their third-consecutive Big 12 championship.

Apparently, that victory is still not being acknowledged in Austin.

They beat us (OU) no question, no problem, they were better on that day. The young freshman DB should have intercepted that pass with 50 seconds remaining, end of contoversy, but then then two guys could not stop Crabtee from grabbing that touchdown pass to save the year. For those two plays, that they did not make, they are crying that they should have gone? They knew as we did and as Tech did, the rules before the start of the season. Bottom line is they have an asterisk and we(OU)have the Championship trophy!

Someone should send this to the Big 12 and the commissioner because this does violate the Conference Sportmanship Rules. You have to play in the Big 12 Championship game and win it to be able to claim that you are the Big 12 champ. This should be removed and MACK BROWN, the Atheletic Director, and the University President should be made to publicly apologize for this.

Mack is old and kind of pathetic. Maybe he feels there won’t be too many more opportunities for him.

The Big 12 should certainly continue to enforce the rules and have this removed. What is most striking about the picture, though, is just how sad it is that they have so few conference championships that they have to fabricate one. Pathetic.

I think Texas should list themselves as national champions for last year. Why stop at a fictitious conference championship?

Wah! Wah! Wah! What a bunch of crybabies! Get over it! I believe the the Big 12 needs to see this adn Mack Brown should have to take it off the sign! He needs to grow up and quit acting so childish! Act your age Mack!

This is laugh-out-loud ridiculous! They have lost their little pick picking minds. The Conference Trophy is in the Switzer Center in Norman. They didn’t even play against Missouri in the title game. We are supposed to assume they would have won if a different rule than the one in effect had allowed them to go to the game, despite losing to Texas Tech with an identical record.

As a friend of mine said, I suppose we should assume they would have beaten Florida after they beat Missouri. So they might as well claim to be National Champions. Is it arrogance or a deep seated feeling of insecurity that allows them to put something like this on the wall?

Pehaps the asterish leads to a comment: “In our dreams.”

What bothers me about this, is not that they think they won the South. An argument can be made for that. What bothers me is they claim they won the Big 12. They never played in the championship game, therefore they didn’t win the title. This is not only a slap in the face to Oklahoma, but a slap in the face to Missouri. They are basically stating Missouri wouldn’t have been more than a speed bump in their run to the title.

Nebraska coaches got a bonus because they “technically” tied Missouri for the Big 12 NORTH, but no one in Lincoln is claiming they won a Big 12 championship

Its so nice to see all the inbred OK people, trying to put sentences together. Also, how did your retarded looking qb and team do in the championship game. And, fyi, mack did not know about this, and as soon as he found out he removed it. Thats class, not what your d-bag coach stoops does by putting 60 on the disgrace of of texas (texas tech).

Also, tech, for your trash talking, how did you do in your bowl game??? Tech and OU need to shut the F**K cause both of you already have it coming this fall, don’t make it more embarassing for yourself.
