Bradford PTI Heisman favorite…
Jay Mariotti, formerly of the Chicago Sun-Times, said Sam Bradford is his Heisman favorite on ESPN’s PTI Monday afternoon.
Bob Ryan, of the Boston Globe, said, “Watch out for Oklahoma.”
Just about everyone, though, agreed USC is the team to beat. As of now, hard to argue with that point.

Brafdford is the man and the rest of the country, esp the Eastcoast can’t even get their facts straight concerning his skill and accomplishments thus far- I sent this in an email to the NY Times after reading Mondays sports section: With Yankee Stadium closing its doors and the Mets in the NL playoff race, I can understand the lack of attention to detail in the NCAA football section concerning the Heisman candidates. Specifically, we collegiate fanatics here in the Heartland,i.e. the Big 12 would like to clarify a statement made in your SportsMonday, September 22,2008 on pageD5. In the Heisman Watch section, the comment under the statline of Missouri’s Chase Daniel read,”Ho hum. A career high in passing yards and a Big 12 record 20 straight completions.” This is inaccurate as the feat was accomplished not once but twice by OU quarterback Sam Bradford who has enjoyed streaks of 22 ( as a Freshman)and 21 respectively. The bio on Soonersports.com ( the official website of OU Athletics confirms as much (…led the nation with passing efficiency rating of 176.53 ahead of second-place Tim Tebow, the Heisman winner … completed 22 straight passes (last 18 versus North Texas and first four against Miami), setting an OU record and falling just two shy of the NCAA mark … had another string of 21) I understand the prowess of Missouri( how many Big 12 championships has Daniel brought home in his career by the way?) ,but OU and its players, specifically the phenom Bradford, and fans deserve to have the record set straight, or reappropriated, on this one. Something to think about…..so many people are touting Missouri’s Chase Daniel for the Heisman. If we were to compare Sam’s stats to Chase’s, based on pass attempts (133), here’s the breakdown.
Daniel – 101 completions Bradford – 105 completions
– 1412 yds – 1450 yds
– 12 TD’s – 20 TD’s
– 1 Int – 3 Int’s
Very close #s but notice the TD’s….20 to 12. Sam’s Int’s are a 3 to 1. But to me, the TD #s are amazing.
It’s not Sam’s fault he only get to attempt 27 passes per game, as opposed to Daniel’s 33.25 per game. And don’t even get me started on Graham Harrell’s pass attempts per game. My point, Sam does a lot more per play than the other guys.

Why was nothing done about the assault of Granger? Football is a tough sport, but there is no place in football for thugs who intentionally gang up on one player and inflict an injury. It was evident to everyone watching the Washington game that three Washington offensve lineman triple teamed Granger and intentionally injured him. They had him on the ground and punched and stomped on his leg. As usual, the Pac-10 officials saw what happened and did not even throw a flag.
