According to various eyewitness reports, several Sooners were spotted at Tuesday night’s Kanye West concert.

That list included Curtis Lofton, now of the Atlanta Falcons, along with Nic Harris. I assume Lofton bought the tickets.

The Griffin brothers, both Taylor and Blake, were also there.

So was do-it-all OU media relations assistant David Bassity, who told me personally that the concert was “off the charts.”

Both teams traded off 2 RBI singles in the first inning, leaving the score 2-2 heading into the second. Sooner starter Antwonie Hubbard, who shut down TCU last week, showed some control issues in the first inning, walking two batters, who both scored.

NFL depatures have shaken up Rivals’ preseason 2008 rankings. The Sooners are eighth.

Enough with the 2008 NFL Draft. What about 2009? Several Sooners will be contenders to go in the first round. That’s not even counting DeMarco Murray or Jermaine Gresham leaving early. Check out this link from ESPN’s Todd McShay (who by the way seems to be loathed by ESPN veteran Mel Kiper Jr.)

The Sooners (28-17-1 overall, 6-11-1 Big 12) will host No. 8 Wichita State (33-9) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The game will be televised live by Metro Sports Communications and can be seen on Cox Ch. 7.

If OU wants to retain any outside shot of making an NCAA regional, this game is a must-win.

Defensive back Will Ford of Abilene Cooper (Texas) High School confirmed that he committed to Oklahoma on Monday, bringing the Sooners’ 2009 commitment total to 11.

Ford (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) also had scholarship offers from Baylor, Texas Christian and Texas Tech.

Several undrafted Sooners have agreed to terms with NFL teams.

That list includes:

DJ Wolfe, Atlanta

Lewis Baker, San Fran

Joe Jon Finley, San Fran

Garrett Hartley, Denver

Marcus Walker, Minnesota

Hartley made the best move of the five. With longtime kicker Jason Elam no longer in Denver, Hartley will have a chance at making the roster.

Thursday afternoon, the Redskins had a private workout with Malcolm Kelly in Norman.

Team owner Daniel Snyder, head coach Jim Zorn, general manager Vinny Cerrato, wide receivers coach Stan Hixon and QB Jason Campbell attended the workout, which didn’t comprise of any testing.

According to the Washington Post, if Washington fails to acquire a veteran wide receiver and retains the 21st pick, Kelly (6-4, 224 pounds) could be its top choice, sources said.

The Redskins brought Kelly in for a visit recently and traveled to Oklahoma to attend his first pro day.

One day after smoking TCU 11-6, the Sooner baseball team had their most embarrasing loss of the season at the hands of Southern Nazarene on Wed. at home, striking down any momentum OU had built up after beating TCU and Mizzou 22-4 on Sunday.

OU was down 8-1 late in the game before making a mild rally.

Where do the Sooners go from here?

Well, they should set their sights on making the Big 12 Tournament, which will be no easy feat.

OU has to win 2 of the 3 series, at Texas Tech and at home against Kansas and Kansas State. Those series are winnable — Tech, KU and KSU are 10th, 8th and 7th in the league — but with as erratic as OU’s pitching has been, who knows what will happen?

If the Sooners continue to stumble, they are currently ninth in the Big 12 standings, they will risk missing the Big 12 Tournament for the first time since the league began in 1997.

Taking 2 of 3 on the road at Tech this weekend would put the Sooners back on track.
